I have taken the shots before so they don't bther me. I just always combined them with clomid so I have no idea what JUST the shots are going to do to my eggies :) I want more eggies 4-5 would be really good because we natural BD instead of IUI but I don't want them to go loco and make 50 eggs! I have an U/S on saturday to see what is happening... Thanks for the advice!
Jen
I have only tried one cycle of the shots. I think that I took that shots every day for about 9 days straight. I would take a combination of repronex and bravelle depending on the results from the daily blood test. I had previously done clomid for three months and was never able to conceive. I also had been labeled a good responder with the clomid producing 2-3 follicles a month. My first round of injections did produce four follicles with me and I didn't have to take very much of the meds because I did respond really well (which helps with the cost). I was not able to get pregnant, though, and am getting ready to do another round of injections but coupled with IUI this time to increase my chances. The number of follicles should be closely monitored with an u/s so the dr can have a better chance of keeping the number of eligible follicles to a more reasonable number. I wish you the best of luck.
BTW- The injections were not painful to me but I am a big chicken and couldn't inject myself so my husband did it for me. I was quite the bonding experience.
No - no issues at all. Hell, clomid made me feel all hot flashy and stuff but menopur did nothing hormonal to me and the shots didn't hurt (just make sure the area is dry after you put the alcohol swab on it - don't stick yourself if the alcohol is still wet - it will burn a bit)! Message me if you have any questions!!
Thanks, Hoping! Best of luck to you this cycle too!
Jen: Have you had any issues with menopur in the past? Just a little nervous about it, since I've never tried it before :-)
YEAH!! We are cycle buddies!!!!
I'm not doing straight shots, but I'll be trying menopur this month too (first month on injectables). I'll be doing femara days 3-7, and a 75 IU shot of menopur on days 3, 5 and 7. I have my baseline sono this afternoon, and depending on what day my RE considers CD1 (I started AF at night), I'll either be starting today or tomorrow. Hopefully it will work for both of us!!! SSBD!
