Dear IsabelleCanada-
Clomid sometimes delays ovulation, so I would continue the OPK testing for another 3-5 days. Also, sometimes OPK testing can miss ovulation. What day did you start testing? If your OPK test does not turn positive, a blood test on day 21,22, or 23 for a hormone called progesterone (only elevated in the blood after ovulation) will provide the answer regarding whether or not the OPK testing missed an ovulation that truly occurred, or whether or not you did not ovulate. Clomid usually does not cause lack of ovulation - but occasionally cycles are non-ovulatory. When you started clomid, was the period just prior to starting completely normal?
This is my first cycle of clomid and I did the OPK's and ovulated on cd 16 & 17. I've always been irregular so I don't know when or how long my cycle really is. The pains I had on those two days especially the first day were horrible! My ovaries felt like they were going to burst or ripping through my body. At points it felt so painful i felt nauseated. :P we are in such the same boat. I"m cd 19 and you are 15 and we are both on our first round of clomid. We should keep in touch!
I have had unexplained infertility basically my entire reproductive life. I did 5 rounds of Clomid, all 100mg, all cd2-6. I do o on my own every cycle. I got pregnant the 2nd round and was elated! But, it ended very early :( Unfortunately, as much as I like Clomid, it likes to give me cysts. I got a doozie that messed up my cycle for a few months. It finally went away and I did my 1st round of Femarra this cycle. O was still way later than normal for me.
I have had just about every test I can do without slicing my organs open and looking inside, lol. Everything always comes back normal.
I always O'd later on clomid, about 2-3 days later.
I hope clomid works for you!!!
Tina - How long have you been on Clomid? Did you ever get pregnant while on Clomid? What is the cause of your infertility?
Thank you for your reassuring words. I am a little worried because I have no monitoring whatsoever. Nothing. No u/s and no bloodwork. I just hope that everything is ok. When should I start to freakout?
With Clomid 5-9, it's not terribly uncommon to o later. That timeline is usually to get a better "quality" ovulation than the "quantity" ovulation that taking it cd2-6 gives. It is possible that you were o'ing b4, but the egg was not mature enough to be viable and Clomid is correcting that problem. Of course, without an exam and u/s any advise is pure speculation.
When I was on Clomid, I felt as if my ovaries would burst just b4 o. Two cycles were ok, then the 3rd cycle revealed a cyst. I still o'd, but the cyst became a problem. Are they monitoring you w/ultrasound?
Each woman is different and not everyone requires an Hcg trigger shot. I was never given one. I do o on my own, too.
