I tried clomid as well a couple of years ago, with very similar side effects as you describe. The fertility specialist I am seeing now put me on Letrozole. Letrozole is actually a drug used for women with breast cancer. One of the 'side effects' is that it stimulates ovulation. Of course the dose you take for fertility purposes is much lower compared to taking it for breast cancer. I did a little research on my own and found that Letrozole is actually much safer than clomid. I've been on letrozole for three months now, and I don't have any of the side effect I had with clomid. I have had good and healthy ovulation since I started taking it.
Good luck and baby dust to you!
I am also on clomid. My husband have been trying for2 years to conceive, with no luck, so then my doctor said to start Clomid, then if that didn't work we would try a higher dosage of it, and then if that didn't work we would check my husbands s.count, and then if that didn't work then he would check my tubes.... does this seem right to you ladies? I think my husband should get checked right away! I am really glad I looked this up, there is a lot of helpful information on this site, and things to ask my doctor!
I was on Clomid for quite a few months in a row... starting with 50 mg all the way up to 150 mg. I only ever had 1 follicle that matured... and never resulted in pregnancy.
All my tests came back good, my hubbies morphology is a little low, so we have been doing IUI.
I just had my 4th IUI last Thursday. I had 3 follicles after being stimulated on Follistim and Ovidrel Trigger.
It looks like you weren't able to detect your surge, which probably means you aren't ovulating. I had the same exact thing happen to me. I ended up with cysts as well. See, if you don't ovulate, the follicles keep growing, producing cysts. You probably need to trigger with an HCG shot to ensure ovulation.
Were you monitored with bloodwork and ultrasounds at all? I would highly recommend it!!
Best of LUck to you!!!!
I also started on clomid, and was an "unexplained infertility". We were trying for 3 years and no pregnancy. The first doctor I saw told me I was fine, and there was no reason I wasnt getting pregnant. After wasting a year with him, I saw a new doctor who just looked at my transferred chart and knew I had a low antra follicle count. Have you had this procedure done? Its only an ultra sound of your ovaries, and they count your follicles. Depending on your age, your count varies. I just had my two embryos transferred last Thursday, and am "patiently" waiting for the 28th to come to see the results. Also, being on clomid any longer than 3 months in a row can actually cause infertility. Watch out for that!!
i just started reading up on femara and i'm hoping that it will work for me being the clomid did't and i tried 50mg, 100mg, and 150mg of clomid and is sick of it. i hope the femara works but my doc doesn't know
I'm also on Letrozole (Femara). I got pregnant my 2nd month taking it. I've just started it up again since that pregnancy was a blighted ovum (nothing to do with the Femara). It doesn't have the side effects that Clomid does and it also doesn't thin out your uterine lining either.
It's worked wonders for me!
All the best, take care!
Have you been tested for pcos? I had normal blood work so i was not tested, then after three rounds of clomid with no ovulation my doc did a scan and i am full of cysts. If you haven't talk to your doc about repeating your bloodwork, now after clomid my labs reflect pcos. i'm not saying the clomid caused it, it just brought it out. If that is your problem all you will need is metformin taken with clomid and most women ovulate with the combo. Also have they done a cd21 progesterone level to see if you are actually ovulating? I had positive opk's for three cycles but i never ovulated. Doc said because i have so many small cysts my lh went up, but not enough to ovulate. I hope this helps and you find something that works soon..
after i upgraded from clomid, i went to follistim and then gonal which are injectables. but there is more scanning and bloodwork check ups on them. and they are $$$ if your ins does not cover them. good luck.
I used Clomid for 7 cycles and unsucessful..side effect: mood swing, lining getting thin.. Doctor put me on Femara and it's not working either...
This time I got pregnant on my own... no medicines... The only thing i done was laparascopy... a week later i got pregnant... My left tube blocked and doctor went in and flushed it...
Good luck and SSBD to you
