Clomid

Hello, we have been trying to have a baby for almost a year now. My Dr started me on 50mg of Clomid and for some reason that didn't seem to work. I will be starting my third go around of Clomid at 100mg this next week. How many cycles has everyone had to go thru before becoming pregnant?

Hi,
there are many facts in this, actually the doctor may prescribe some tablets initially in lower dose, for the reason , that the egg should mature in size betwen 13-17days.
There is one more research that has found that the egg which gets fertilised after 20th day, has the chance of miscarriage.
And one more thing that the couple may try between 13-17days, and wont sometimes intercourse after day 17, for the reason he may be tired, or may think it might have happened. But actually we dont know if the egg releases after day 17.
That may be the reason that it did not happen last year for you.
And the medications u r given very basc and u need not worry, to make sure that u r ovlating properly, u may ask ur doctor to go on for folliculr study, scan(internal). She may monitor from day2 of ur cycle to check the egg in each ovaries, and scan on alternative days from day 7, to monitor the size.
The egg should be of 18mm to mature, she will tell u to have intercourse on some days. But dont miss those days.
Some say abstinence from day 10-12, will increase the sperm count, if u r ovulatin on
day 13. I have not tried this, i read this in a book. I have ovulation issues, so i cnnot prefer that, that abstinence method might be useful for th one wit regular period.
Hope this may help u, dont worry, on these medicines, but u just keep asking about them with ur gynaec,,,Or u can check about the side effectsand use of them in websites. I dont know remember any particular websites, just i search in Yahoo search engine.
Ok dear good luck, may god bless u,,,:)

I heard you should not be on clomid for more than 6 months.

My dr would not keep anyone on clomid for more than 3 months although he starts out with 100 mg.  It can thin your lining if you take it for too long.

Good luck!
