By endo diet do you mean no refined carbs & sugars?
I have had both a laparotomy ( large abdominal incision) and a laparoscopy in May. I got pregnant in June. But I must say that the laparoscopy was MUCH better.. still hurt though.. from the gas pains really :( but the recovery time is relatively quick as long as u don't overwork yourself.. It really depends on what the found. I had a bunch of adhesion, a large cyst, endo, and uterine polyps, so I was pretty hurt afterward.. took pretty much the whole of May to recover fully and the symptoms started to return immediately afterwards. However, I did go on the endo diet, and natural progesterone cream, and I think that helped me get pregnant that is sticking the longest
Ops..sorry mistake...OVARY :)
Thanks ita17..That's exc.what I heard and have been reading about the Endo..You cannot see it through the u/s!!!I didn't beleive what she said before at all..!
That's why I like to do my own research and talk to others who were in the road..Sometimes they know too much about it..!But at least I go the referral from her..Now,the next step is to wait for the appoitment on the August 13 and give it to the Fertility Re.and from there we'll see what we are going to do!I really wanna do this procedure(Lap)..No matter what they say,I think I should be checked I would not loose anything at this point..I just hope I don't need to remove any ovay or even tube..That scares me a bit LOL..I'm sorry you went through that, you are a strong woman!...I'll let you know more later..!Thanks for everything!
typo.......it was my LEFT side that was bad, not right :) oooops Good thing the Dr wasn't confused like sound! LOL
You are young, but thats besides the point! Kinda more reason to get everything figured out NOW!
& you CAN"T see endo on US! AT ALL! The only way is thru surgery. period.
I WISH they could see it thru US! That would be nice!!!! A lot of women, if not MOST don't even know they have endo, they have no real symptoms & for me I had it all over my left side but nothing really on my right & I had lots of pain that I lived w/for 1+ years. Heat pads were my BFF's!
The Dr who preformed it on me told me my endo wasn't even that bad, overall, he sees much worse! Obviously it took over my right, I even had it adhered to my colon on that side!
ANyway, I think you are doing the right thing. Surgery always should be a last resort, & thats why I was so stubborn for a year, BUT BUT BUT had I taken care of it right away my right side probably could have been saved!
Theres always a reason for things, & I did learn a lot about health etc.............. so I did get something positive from that whole experience!
When are you having it done you think?
Hun, I got one tube & one ovary removed via lap & you will be TOTALLY FINE! I recovered really quick! It was sore but NO BIG DEAL at all! :)
I never took any meds, just IBpren & regular Tylenol for about 3 days. I do have a high tolerance for pain, but honestly the scariest thing about having it done is the THOUGH of having it done & WAITING to have it done!
Don't worry!!!
I GO UNDER THE KNIFE TO GET MY TUBES REMOVED THIS FRIDAY FOR MY UPCOMING IVF AND THE CLOSER THE DATE GET THE MORE AFRAID I BECOME ABOUT THE LAP. I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED ON H=HOW IT IS I'M PRAYING FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY WITHOUT TOO MUCH DISCOMFORT!
I went to my appoitment with my family Re today...And I got the referral I wanted, regarding to the Lap that I want to have done..She didn't want to give it to me at first..She was telling me that if I had Endo it would been shown on the u/s I have been doing for a while now..And also,it would be shown scars on my fullopian tubes..(both tubes are open)and she doesn't think I have that..I explained to her I have dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia and dyspareunia every month and all I want right now is to have this Lap done because I never got checked before..!..Even if I don't have,at least my mind will be cleared..Who know what's inside of my body....Also,she said :"You are young and you have lot's of time ahead of you to conceive..." Isn't it so irritating?I'm 29 years old now..With the problems I'm having to conceive maybe I should just seat on the sofa ,cross my legs and wait for that to happen one day,eh!! People who don't pass by this road have noooooooooooooooooooooo clue at all...Anyway,sorry just feel like sharing my thoughts..Feel free to send me advices I don't mind:)
Thank you dnikki0928...Waw you had 4 done!..You are so strong! I'm sorry you had to go through all that!!...I got what you said..So,,,after the surgery it take syou about a week to get well..That's good to know cause if I go to do that surgery now I'm well informed about it..!! I love you guys on this website!!
Thanks!
I'm going under the knife to get my tubes removed on friday, you helped take the scare out. Thanks!
Vana: Thanks :-) As far as the lap - I've had 4 done now... Just be sure that afterwards you get up and move around b/c of the gas the put in your abdomen can cause shoulder pain (b/c it's just kind of stuck in there). I took tylenol and advil for the pain but for my laps where the Endo was severe I took darvocet which worked well. The recovery is about a week - just make sure you aren't a couch potato. Still take it easy but at the same time move around - know what I mean? Good Luck!!
Thanks for sharing your story about the Lap. I'm sheduled for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on August 20th. Did you have the hysteroscopy too?
I was really really scared to have this surgery, but after reading about your recovery, I feel a little better about it.
Thanks again!
Gigi

ita17>>>>Sorry for what you went through..And thank you for sharing your story too..

LadyBug82>>>>> I don't know yet..Dh was opening my eyes this weekend..
He doens't want me to go ahead with another IUI before been checked inside to see if I have Endo..So,I'll looking around for answers before I go to my appoitment with the re...
wow thanks alot i am doing my second iui in september, MY RE want me to do a lap before cont' to any other options and well as youve ready i am the biggest chicken in the world .. THANK YOU so much for all this INFO ..and YES i will def ask you more QUESTIONS .... hugs *:O) erika
I forgot to add that I did walk around like an 80 year old lady that was constipated for about 1 week! It was hard to stand up straight & it was REALLY had to get into & out of my bed! I would have to push my booty up & move like my hips over! LOL It's probably similar to having a C-section??? But after 7-9 days I felt pretty normal. Honestly it was not bad at all......don't be scared!
Really it wasn't bad at all! I had to do it cuz I had an 8cm endo cyst in my ovary that was causing me all kinds of pain. I actually got prego a few months before, but mc'd (blighted ovum) I did not want to do it, I had just switched Ob.'s & my first one wanted to just do regular surgery (he thought I had O cancer!) & I refused it, saw an oncologist & he said nope you don't have cancer. So I found a new OB & he said, "simple we'll do lap. & remove it & it's quick, out patient & if you wanted, you could run a marathon the next day"!!! (yeah right! LOL)
It was simple. I just don't like waking up for being under, that was my fear! It was 1.5 hours long, 3 lil incisions, & I never took more than 400mg ib profen, or 400 of plain tylenol. I DID get the anti-nausea med. in my drip BEFORE I woke up! That was great.
About 5 hours after surgery I felt pretty normal.
Infact I was in recovery for only one hour! I walked around my house as much as possible when I got home. This helps w/the gas they inflate your belly with. I had a bit of discomfort about 7 hours later in my right rib cage area (so weird!) But that was it...no biggy!
I was MORE freaked out for my DnC!
If you think of any questions, ask me.......I think I've asked them all!!!
Good luck! :)
is this a painful procedure? my dr want me to do one before my third iui or before i start my IVF next year... UNDER THE KNIFE that is my scare... please let me know what this is like thank you in advance... VANA you getting this done? hugs *:O) ERIKA
I did too. But sadly I mc'd @ 11 weeks :(
I got pregnant the month after the surgery, the second time i had lap!
