Hi Heather! I've only read about the fertility diet in a magazine (I think it was Conceive Magazine), and it seems like it's mainly created to help women ovulate. So if you have problems with ovulation, it can definitely help, but I'm not sure how effective it is if you're already regular. Although, it's always a good idea to eat healthy, so I'm sure following the diet can make you healthier overall :-)
Have you tried acupuncture? I've heard that can have a positive impact!
Take care, and best of luck with your IVF!
SHP: That's interesting about the estrogen/whole milk and testosterone/skim milk, though! I might try more whole-milk products in the follicular phase next month, if this one doesn't work out. Thanks for sharing that!
I bought the book. It is basically a balanced diet eating good fats and such. The most interesting thing to me was about the whole milk. Apparently hormones are in milk. Estrogen is in the fat - testosterone in the skim part. Drinking skim instead of whole gives you more testosterone and we women need estrogen for a healthy pregnancy - that is why you should eat whole milk, regular ice cream etc.
Other than the milk part I didn't get much from it.
Hi Heather, I have heard of it.. read about it in Newsweek. I don't know the whole diet, but I did read that whole milk makes big fat juicy eggs, so for the past 2 months I have been drinking a glass of whole milk every day. I forgot how delish really cold whole milk is. I'm lucky b/c we have a small organic dairy nearby and I go and pickup a half gallon of it served in the old fashioned glass bottles.
As far as all the other stuff goes, I have read a few books and they're all pretty similar.. low fat, whole grains, veggies and fruit...
Im also starting IVF next month!
