HCG levels-IVF

Hi All,

I need some reassurance here.

I had my transfer on July 19.  As of July 1, I have had positive HCG reading.  My office is "cautiously optimistic."  It is driving me nuts.

I know HCG is supposed to double every 48-72 hours.  I have gone for bloodwork every other day.  My results are as follows:
36
87
167
395
682
1142

I have not been doubling lately.  It makes me nervous.  The office says that this happens.  They scheduled an appointment for Monday for another blood draw.  Now they called back and want an ultrasound as well to make sure things are ok.

Is this normal?  Am I freaking out for nothing?
Andrea

Hi I had my first ivf cycle and found out the the pregnancy test was positive with a Hcg number of 95. The nurse told me that it was a good strong number. I went back 2 days later for another blood test and was told that it was 135. She said that they really like to see the number double and that I would have to come back again in 2 days( 4-24-09) to repeat the bloodwork.. Has anyone had a levels like this???

anyone have any advise??? I'm soooo upset...

My dr takes hcg a week a part to see the big picture and he wants hcg to go up 10 times in 1 week.  Looks like in 8 days your hcg is up more than 10 times so you are doing OK.  U/s I hope will help to clear all doubts.

Thank you!  Like I said, I need reassurance.  I transferred three and they started saying maybe two took and one didn't make it.  yada yada.

I'm going to a Tigers game in the rain today.  That certainly should take my mind from it.

Thank you again

I agree with Leighanna.. 48-72 hours is a good doubling time.  I know a woman that started with low betas some some doubled every 3 days!!!! She is 17 weeks pregnant with TWINS!    Good luck on your U/S.. I think your numbers are looking fine!

those levels look good to me.  it you research levels, they can take up to 72 hours to double as well as, some ladies never double and going up %70 of doubling is good.  if you went in every 3 days, they would have more than doubled.  try not to stress.  also wheny ou get the US, it is going to be too early to see much so try not to worry, they can just make sure your lining looks good and hopefully there will be a little sac, although there might not be cause your level needs to be over a 1000 for anything to be seen.  good luck and you should be fine.

Hi feather, thank you for the reassurance.  It just drives me crazy how they put things.  "You don't have to worry, YET."  Plus, I think they suspect something is wrong which is why we are doing this SUPRISE ultrasound.  I tried to get them to wait until Wednesday so my husband could be there.  They said it had to be Monday.

After Monday I'm hoping to know SOMETHING, anything.

Thank you again,
Andrea

Doubling is just a guideline,as long as things are going up you are fine. Try not to worry your levels seem just fine.
