gonadotropins are a class of drug/homrone, not just one drug. gonal F, menopur, etc are all gonadotropins
they are injectible medications that stimulate you to produce eggs.
clomid is similar, but it stimulates your body to make more of it's won gonadotropins rather than being one itself.
so just about everyone doing medicated cycles is on at least one.
if you are doing IUI, you generaly start injections on a certain day of your cycle and they monitor you to make sure you are producing follicles but not too many. The goal is 2-4 follicles mature at the time of trigger.
If you are doing IVF, you first go on medications to shut down your ovaries entirely, then you take much higher doses of gonadotropins to cause you to make as many eggs as possible which are then retrieved surgically.
