IUI

Just curious of typical costs for IUI.  My RE's office charges around $700 each IUI, including the Lab part  (they wash the sperm?) and the insemination per the dr.  Is this the normal rate?  Our insurance does not cover this and they say that is the next step for us.  We have been doing clomid with BD x 3 months and if this month doesnt work then have to go to IUI.  Bummer really had 3 pregnancies with Bding.

Plus - how many times does it usually take for IUI to work???

I did IUI in October with my RE and it was about $750 and that included the u/s and back to back IUI since eggs hadn't released on the first day. I had to pay sepererate of course for the Ovidrel injection and clomid and mine worked 1st time. Very worth the money!

I did four rounds of double IUI with clomid. Insurance paid for my clomid. I paid $900 for each double round. That included washing, insemination, trigger shot, and follow up blood work. Unfortunately I never got a positive on any of my IUIs... just a lot of cysts. After 3 surgeries, we finally moved on to IVF and found success in our first attempt. I'm 31 weeks now.  Good luck to you!

$275 I could handle, but the $700 is a lot.  Funny thing is my insurance would pay for injectables but no IUI or IVF.

I had an iui done last mo and it was only $275. I had no idea it was so much at other places.

Thanks all.

My insurance has been paying for my meds and my ultrasounds, they just won't pay for the IUI part.  :-(  So now we have to decide if we want to continue.

yes, that is a cheap price, mine was $1400, including u/s but not labs. And not the injectables, I did gonal f with ovidrel trigger shot. Although I didn't get pregnant, I wouldn't change it cuz after that I needed to take a break for my emotional health and ended up prego!

i too am thinking of doing IUI...we've done clomid and miscarried twice on it.... not really sure what the next step is but i think its IUI.  I think that price is compareable to what i've read/heard.  i'm not sure what to expect at all. any advice would be appreciated my way too!thanks

Just did iui for the first time with letrezole (alternative to clomid) and ovidrel and injectiable just prior to IUI.  Our insurance pays for it so we are lucky, but I would say that rate is comparable.  We had an ultrasound too, to determine when the prime time to have the iui and when to do the inejectiable.  Hope that helps.  Our office does a 3 package prices, so it is cheaper.  I have heard it can work the first time, but not getting my hopes up!
