IUI

Hello guys. I am so nervous. I just had my ultrasound today and it showed I had 3 mature follicles. I took my shot of Ovidrel and am scheduled for an IUI on Frday morning. I am worried about the timing since you can ovulate 24-36 hours after the injection and the procedure is 2 days away! What if I ovulate b4 930 Friday morning? Also, I am only having one insemination, which I thought was normal. After talking with the nurse she said some patients get 2 inseminations 2 days in a row. I talked to another nurse at the clinic, and she said I could have sex tonight to help close the window. I am afraid to because I dont want to take away from the sperm for the IUI on Friday. Has anybody gotten pregnant with one IUI? Should I have sex tonight?

I only had one IUI and I got a BFP after the first month of trying (we'd been trying with other methods for over 3 years though).  I did not even do a trigger but I did take Femara to help with ovulation.  Also, since I wasn't getting a positive ov test & it was like, day 17, my husband and I BD'd on cd17 only to get a positive ov test the next day. I went in for the IUI on cd19 (which I had a strong positive ov test that morning) and even though his sperm count was low (less than 30 million) and I only had one IUI, we got our BFP!  I estimate I probably had 2 to 3 good size follicles but we were blessed with one sweet baby so don't fret over the details (easier said than done) or how many IUIs you are having.  Do what you can do to control things and try to let the rest fall into place.  Wishing you TONS of baby dust!

We are having our IUI's the same day :)  I'm going in for my first one tomorrow morning at 9:30am.  We were told NOT to BD at all, with the last time being Tuesday, but that we will need to BD friday and Saturday.  I took my Ovidrel last night at 9:30, so my IUI is scheduled for exactly 36 hours after the shot.  Personally, I wouldn't BD tonight, I would wait until tomorrow night about 12 hours after your IUI and then again the next night.  I'm surprised they didn't have you do the Ovidrel 36hours in advance, but I know all fertility clinics are different.

Best of luck to you!!!  Lots and lots of baby dust!!!!

When I had my IUI they told me to have sex the night I did the shot and then to not have sex until after the IUI. I had some spotting and cramping the night before my IUI and thought I ovulated early and the nurse assured me that was not possible because the shot was controlling when I ovulate and I wouldn't ovulate before 36 hours. I did get pregnant my first IUI and no I did not do a 2nd insemination, only the one which was a little more than 36 hours after I did my shot. Unfortunately my pregnancy ended in a m/c due to a blighted ovum so now I am waiting to do another IUI hopefully in August. Good luck. I hope you get your bfp this cycle. SSBD to you!!!

My doctor actually told me that it is really important to have sex same day and next day as with the sperm washing some things are taken away...don't worry you will not take anything away from the sperm as it is already in your uterus...best of luck ..
