Irregular periods can clomid help me get pregnant

I've been married to my husband for 6 months but we've been together for 6 years. It wasn't until the 2nd year when we were trying to have kids (wasn't serious) but now that we're married we definitely want to have a baby. With that being said my periods were regular and now I've been irregular for about a year or two. I've gone to the doctor to make sure I was okay and I was! But having irregular periods makes it hard for me because I wouldn't have my period for 3 months and I would think I'm pregnant. I was wondering if clomid would be the answer to help me get pregnant. We would love to be pregnant this year. Any insight/information would be very helpful!

I was irregular and had a miscarriage in January '14 and after that I stopped ovulating. So I was put on clomid and after 2 rounds I finally got pregnant and had her in November. We're trying for #2 and am on clomid again because I'm not ovulating myself again. They usually have you try for a year before putting you on anything. I would get ovulation tests and track it to see if you're ovulating and once you get an idea of when you do, have sex every other day leading up to ovulation.
