Not Ovulating?

I came off the pill in March and we started TTCing for our second at the same time. Our first was a suprise, we weren't trying.

I've been using OPKs as well as charting. I have my Ovulation dates according to my charts. However, my OPKs are confusing me. I will get faint lines that get darker the closer I get to my O date, but I've never had one get to be as dark or darker, which according to the instructions means a positive. They say anything lighter is a negative. So I get to this one level, then my lines go faint again. For example, according to one chart my O day is today. Two days ago I had my darkest line, but it wasn't even close to being the same shade or darker as the test line. Then the next morning it was lighter and today its almost not even visible.

Does this mean perhaps I'm not actually ovulation? Like maybe my body is gearing up but not actually releasing an egg?

We BD'd on Sunday and Tuesday nights, and will probably do so again today to make sure, just in case.

I'm just wondering if maybe I'm not actually releasing my egg?

Thanks!

I guess I'll hope for the best. If it doens't happen this month, next month i'll test twice a day when I start to see lines.

I'll also either get the digitals or try the Answer brand.

Thanks again!

I've been using Clear Blue Easy and then this time bought the generic Rite Aid brand (it was only $10). Maybe next month I'll try Answer. I may just put an email in to my doc too, to see what she says.

I think it depends on how concentrated your urine is and the brand of test you are using. For example, if I use ClearBlue easy or internet cheapies I never get a positive, but if I use the Answer brand then I do. Also, I have to be really dehydrated for it to work.  My blood tests confirm that I am ovulating, so it is just that my LH surge is a little low for the tests to pick up.... I wouldnt be too scared if I were you...  if you can see that the lines are getting a little darker, that means that your LH is building up.....  I would bet that you are ovulating and the test is just having a hard time picking it up.   If in doubt, ask your odctor to check your progesterone after you think you have O'd.

For anyone who is getting a good OPK progession and they dont seem to be getting a full positive, i would definitely suggest testing twice a day. I would miss my surge altogether if I only tested once a day. Just a recommendation!

Okay, this is kinda hard to describe in writing but here it goes.  This is what my RE had me do in the past.
He'd have me start testing a couple days before he would expect to see an LH surge.  Whatever result I got from the first test would become the base line.  Ideally there would be no line so, as soon as I did get a line (even if it was lighter than the control line) he would consider that the sign of my surge and I was to call him.  If I did get a light line on the first test, than that line would become the base line, and if it got any darker, he would consider that the surge and I would call him.

So the lesson I got from that was, as soon as you see any indication that your LH is increasing, START BDING!!

Good luck to you!!

I'm actually going through a similar thing.  I used the opks all last week and got faint lines.  As of Monday I've been testing the fertility monitor and it reads high fertility time.  Last night I did another opka and I barely got a line, so I never saw the two dark lines either.  Fortunately for me I had an appt with my ob/gyn yesterday and he's sending me for some tests.  He also did a pelvic ultrasound and found that my right ovary was a little cystic, which could be the problem with ovulation.  Good luck to you and hope this is your month.  If not, you can make an appt with dr and see what he says.
