OPKS+Femara=confusion

Ok pros, I need some help. I think I know what may be going on but would like some feedback. Day b4 yesterday Answer opk was pos and monitor was peak. Did a smiley and it was pos too. Thought it was a done deal and temps were too low for post o today. So I poas again this am. Answer came back way darker than control so I did a smiley. It smiled at me. I don't like using extra monitor sticks after I get a peak because it won't go peak again. But, I did one and got high reading. This is a Femara cycle.

My thoughts: I didn't o and the egg is having a hard time busting out. Or, I did o and another egg is being released? I know they say when two or more eggs are released it is so close together tests won't show two separate events. But, as we all know there is an exception (or two) to every rule.

I work at the Post Office today, so no daytime internet. I really would like to hear from everyone. Especially, Heather, Trish, Helen and other bbt ladies. I have been charting since 18 or 19 yrs old and don't recall an o where my temps had a slow rise.

I'll check in when I get home. Thanks for the input!

Tina

Hi Tina! I've had a few cycles in the past where I had a slow rise. Makes it a bit confusing, because it's hard to pinpoint ovulation, but eventually FF did give me an ovulation day and coverline. But like you said, since you're on femara, it could be that you're ovulating twice. I know they say that with more than one egg, they will all be released within 24 hours of each other, but I'm not sure how that affects the surge...if that means your surge is longer than normal, or if your surge is the same, but the eggs just respond to it at different times.

I did look at your chart, though, and if you did release more than one egg, I would think that could affect the rise. Maybe one was release and started raising your temp, but because you still had one more to release, it still kept it somewhat down. Not really sure about this theory, but I just thought I'd throw it our there :-)

Also, another thing I noticed is that you didn't have a dip before O, like you've had in your last cycle, so that could also make it a bit harder to see a clear rise.

Hopefully your temps will continue to go up in the days to come!

Best of luck, Tina!

Hi Tina,

I hate when stuff like that happens.  But you may be having a slow rise.  My whole time charting I never had a slow rise up until a few cycles ago they seemed to start going to slow rises like yours and my O wasn't as obvious as they used to be.  Of course there's always the theory of O'ing twice but everything I've read says it's no way to tell even if you did because like you said, it's so close together.  But I wondered about the same thing, whether I O'd twice, didn't O yet or just had the slow rise.  According to my luteal phase for those "slow-rise" cycles I found out it really was a slow rise because the LP's were around the same length.  Just like you, it threw me off because my post-O temps were usually a few tenths higher but the LP kinda confirmed it was a slow rise after the fact.  I know you'll be sure to cover your bases either way.

Best wishes on this being a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE BFP for ya!!

Trish
