Hello, I cant really answer your question but I too have just had a scan and been told I have a 2.8cm cyst, though the nurse that did scan wasnt sure what sort of cyst it was? said it could be follicle cyst , i have to now wait up to 2 weeks for the results to be faxed to my dr then discuss what to do. I have NO pain and the only reason I went for a scan was because I havnt had a bleed this month and was on provera and clomid last month and think the clomid may have caused this. I also had a cyst prior to ivf 3cm but felt no pain so I'm surprisd your sister is in pain, may be something more as my dr said this size are small and will probably go on their own or with 1 month on the pill. x
Thanks Mel. I think the pain is probably more from her endometriosis as that was what I always had pain from too. I hope that yours goes away on its own and you can move forward. You have been down such a rough road!
I had cysts 2.6 and 2.5 on each ovary and it just made me feel a little crampy and achey. I wasnt crying in pain. It took about 6-8 weeks for those to resolve on their own. Later I had a much larger around 4.5 and it was stubborn, I had surgery for that one.(we were TTC so had it removed) Even it wasnt terribly painful. I just felt achey, menstral cramps were worse than the cyst pain. I also had endometriosis and around AF I would get horrible pain that would put me in the bed for a few days but had surgery to remove that as well.
I have been having cyst for the past 11 years and they are super painful, so I know how your sister feels. My last cyst got as big as 6cm and the dr didn't do anything. Thankfully it's shranking and the last US I had it was at 3.6, not really sure what type of cyst your sister has, but my dr told me to hang on and hopefully it goes away on it's own. Mine usually repture on their own, but this one was different. It just keep on getting bigger and bigger.
Hmmm, I think we all have different types of sensitivity down there and have different pain levels. When I first learned I had a cyst problem, it was after it burst. The tech and dr both said "a small cyst burst". I don't know what size it was, but I was in so much pain I could barely walk for about 2 weeks, and serious dicomfort for about another 2-3 weeks. After that, the next month was bearable discomfort.
Maybe her cyst has burst and that's why she is in more pain again. Perhaps her period is arriving soon and the hormones are causing more growth and pain for the cyst. Go get her a heating pad and tell her to rest. I've even heard of some women pressing on the area to get the cyst to pop. Not sure how safe that is, but it never worked for me.
I hope she finds relief!
