Overweight, PCOS, TTC for 10 years...need advice?

So I am a 5'4" 30 year old, I weigh 250 pounds and I have PCOS.  I have been dieting and eating right forever it seems and cant shed any weight (sucks).

I figure im just meant to be BIG!! I can live with that, but all these docs say oh God you are fat etc.  It gets annoying.  Who the heck says bigger girls cant have kids? Am I alone in this?

Are there many woman out there TTC who are 100 pounds or more overweight?  Do your doctors tell you that the reason for infertility is your weight? Im not giving up im going to continue taking Clomid etc., it will happen!

I also have PCOS, no periods unless I take prometrium.  Just annoyed by all the doctors telling me im too fat to be a mommy!

Thanks everyone! I am working hard, I have lost 25 pounds dont forget so its not like im just sitting around doing nothing.  I just needed to hear that bigger woman can get pregnant, its in my jeans to be big of course not that I want it but my entire family is that way and im trying desperately to get rid of the weight.

I have a treadmill, I live in South Florida actually so I walk a 5 mile track by my house on cool nights and use the treadmill 2 times a week for 30 minutes at a time.  I know its not much but im working harder at using it more.

Again thanks for everything.  Good luck to all of you!!!  You will be a great mommy...soon.

Have you been exercising regularly?  If not, well that is the first start in the right direction.  I know it is much more difficult to conceive if you are overweight as your body has lots of changes hormonally from the weight.  You need to really exercise.  Changing food is not all you need to do.  I know it is hard sometimes to fit that in, but it is a must if you in deed want to shed those pounds.

Do you live in the mild climate?  If not, maybe an investment like a treadmill will do you good.  I will say that I was overweight and actually am about 20 lbs over currently, but I did lose over 60 lbs a few years back.  It was realllllly hard work and I needed to exercise 5 x a week in order to lose it all.  I changed my food habits BUT I had to exercise at least 30 minutes each time.  I did this by walking first on the treadmill and then increasing to a jog....I ended up actually outside in the real world jogging from that point and shed my weight within the year......I did have a baby and have not lost 20 of it since....just lazy pretty much......it's not easy to be CONSISTENT.  But I will say that will help you for sure!

I don't know much about the medication you are taking, but me in particular, well I would rather try it the natural way and get my body back in shape and hormonally balanced with mother nature.  Of course, I don't know your details, so you may need your medication?  Anyhow, best of luck and determination will get you there......not just cutting the food intake or choices...good old fashioned SWEAT!!!!

Have you tried drinking a lot of water? It helps! You will be urinating ALOT more. But it does help. I did that for 6 months and I have lost 63 pounds so far.

I lost 25 pounds, I was up to 275 from taking so many different types of pills...I had to give up on the pills because clearly they were affecting me in a different way.

I am now at 250 and I have done everything from cutting out soda's, caffeine, candy, basically everything with sugar.  I am just stuck here at this current weight and believe me its annoying.

Even after losing 25 pounds my periods are still non-existant unless I have help bringing them on.

Thanks for your feedback.

Dawn, someone posted here not too long ago about weight issues and a lot of the women who responded were indeed overweight and they mentioned their doctors didn't make a deal of it.

Also, have you ever had your thyroid levels checked?  People with hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) have real difficulty losing weight.  PCOS is very common with hypothyroidism, too.  Just a thought.  Best wishes!

I'm sure that hurts your feelings when they say things like that. I had one of my doctors tell me that it is harder for women who are over weight to get pg. He also said that being over weight could also make you irregular with your periods or not have a period at all. Have you tried any weight loss pills?
