PCOS, Endometriosis and Pregnancy chances?

Hello, I have pcos, endo and chronic anovulation, 29years old. I have been ttc for 7yrs now and have never even ovulated that I know of. I have tried 8cycles Clomid/progesterone and 3cycles Metformin/Letrozole with no success. I'm going back to the re soon and was wondering if you all might have any ideas or suggestions of things I can talk over with him to help me out? He has suggested ovarian drilling in the past but that's about it. This is getting really depressing after so long but I'm trying to be positive about it. Thanks for any comments or ideas! em

Hi ive been on clomid 6 cycles and nothing I know I have pcoa and endo and no periods maybe one a year. Any ways my husband and I are trying I have seen 2 gynos b4 I was told about the new one that I went to see I was in his office for 5 mins and he read my chart from my previous gyno and turned around and told me this is what I want to do....laperscopic they my belly button insert die in my tubes and overies and uterus cut above my plevic area and cut out and blazer my endo out and if there is anything else he see needing to be done I gave consent to do so.. example remove tumors cyst flush my tubes if clogged ext.. I went from two gynos that didn't do anything g except put me on pills after pills and kept reasurring me that I will get pregnant its been 7 years I started trying at age 23 I'm now 30.
I want a baby sooo bad...just like everyone.
Anyways what in getting at is if ur not getting anywhere or if ur gyno keeps perscribing pills and won't even look in to see what's going on via surgeryad is willing to do that than its time to move on to the next gyno and get some answers the doc I'm seeing now he doesn't mess around heiss the head of gyno in Toronto and Mississauga Ontario and I've only heard good results about him like peoples havingstage 3 or 4 endo and after this surgery they go pregnant with in 15 months some as lil time as 3 weeks after to 3 month's I'm nervous to have my surgery scared that he will find something that's really bad... but will never know till its over right..
Surgery date is June 27 the 2012 @ 1 pm...wish me luck...
And to u all never give up until u know its sertin  and also just keep in mind adoption is always another option my husband understands and is okay with the fact that we might have to just go that rout I know how some people feel I feel the same someone elae s children are wonderful but they just don't fill the void.. best of luck..

HI there

I'm 28, having PCOS and just had ovarian drilling last Monday. This was after I did 2 cycles of Clomid & 2 cycles of FSH injections. Whilst they were doing the ovarian drilling, they discovered I had mild endometriosis. I think he wants to start me on FSH again, but if I don't ovulate, I'm thinking about going straight to IVF. It's only about $6000 with my specialist (in Australia).

I relate to all of you - I'm very frustrated! My specialist actually didn't suggest taking the Metformin, but i took it anyway (I'm an RN) and it still didn't do anything.I also had accupuncture for 2 months. I'm thinking I may visit a Naturopath, but I'm so annoyed with spending all of the money with no results, I'm actually now considering lap banding. I only just border on qualifiying as I'm not obese. I'm thinking if I do this, it may increase my chances of conceiving, and it's the same cost if not cheaper than IVF. Thoughts??

I was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis.  We tried Chlomid and Medformin off and on for a few years.  My Dr. finally wanted to to lapriscopic surgery to see what was going on.  When he went it, he found so much scar tissue that my ovaries were stuck to my uterin wall and my uterus was being pulled to the left.  He lasered out the scar tissue and put everything back to where it was supposed to be.  A 2 moths  later I got pregnant, then miscarried.  That happened again 2 months later and then 2 monts after that I got pregnant and now I have a beautiful boy who is 2.  He he had not done the lapriscopic, no matter how many drugs I took, it would not have helped, because nothing was where is was suppose to be.  I am now on lupron for 7 months to put me into menopause, to help with all if the scar tissue.  I hope it works!

I just want to say that I hope you all fall pregnant and give birth to healthy babies. I have been ttc for 12 months now, 4 failed clomid cycles, i have pcos, anovulation and possible endo and am seeing an ivf specialist next month. i know exactly what u mean about people saying stay positive it will happen and all that...its easy for them to say when they all have kids and conceived them naturally, easily and quickly. i just wish everyone in our situation the best of luck and i wish that they would hurry up and find something to cure all of or infertility problems...im praying for all of us.

I wish I could find a Dr who would do IVF for $10,000. That would be great!!!! But that is completely unlikely that it is that inexpensive. My husband and I have been TTC for 3 years and 2 months and nothing. I have been on clomid, I have used the conception kit, I was on Metformin for over 3 years and still nothing. We are going to hopefully start the process of AI (aka IUI) in April and if that doesn't work then we will move on to IVF. I am 33 and I am devestated. So I know what all of you are going through. My husband's sperm is agressive and very fast. I have 1 cyst on each of my ovaries and after being poked and prodded for over 3 years, I have to start it all over again. They say it might be PCOS but they aren't sure. It is easy for those who have kids to say it will happen or stay positive but honestly, it isn't that easy when it has been going for over 3 years. So good luck to everyone. I know I need it.

I am getting ready to turn 28 at the end of the month and have endometriosis and pcos and will be starting IVF after several attempts to use oral meds and IUI nothing was a success.  When I did oral meds (chlomid, progesterone, hcg injections) I did ovulate but no pregnancy.  So I have to try IVF they will put me on injection and there are several steps such as putting me on the pill so I don't ovulate and they can retrieve my eggs.  Then once I have several nice sized eggs they will knock me out and retrieve them then take my husbands sample and fertilize them and insert 1-2 eggs then freeze the rest for other treatments.  You may want to talk to you doctor about other options my beggest fear is that what are the chances this will work.

Good Luck

Hi, thanks for everyone's comments. I have been seriosly thinking about switching re's. It's not that I want shots (needles really scare me) but I think it's time for something more aggressive than just swallowing pills and getting my hopes up for nothing. I like the idea of natural medicine too, have also been looking for an acupuncturist to go along with my regular dr's.

They never checked whether I had any eggs develop after the Clomid, all they would do was draw blood and tell me my prgesterone was too low and try again. They also said I had a tilted uterus. Thanks for your replies, good luck to everyone!

I can relate to you. We have been trying for three years now. I did 3 clomid cycles and 2 IVF with no succes. I am ovulating every month I think. If you are not ovulating why docs keep on giving you clomid or any other meds. Did they tell you that you had no eggs developed after the clomid?.  Since I have endometriosis my doctor suggested to do IVF, because that will bypass the endo problem. After 2 IVF cycles you would think they look at your uterine shape as well, but I just found out that shape of my utrine maybe the reason why IVF did not work for me. I think you should go to different doctor (infertility) to discuss furter obtions. Have them look at your uterine as well. Hope to hear good news from you soon.

I say switch docs if ur not sure about your current doc or simply to have another oppinion. And look for natural madicine to aliviate your problem for the mean time and also take it w/ what ever your doc prescribes you.I believe in natural medicine it has work for me and other people I've known. Just a suggestion, good luck with everything else.

Hi, I don't know how ivf works, never had one done. I've heard they're expensive though. Femara is the same thing as Letrozole-just a different name, it didn't help me but I know of some people that it did.

How does IVF work?  I know you have to have eggs to do IVF, but that seems like it might be a good process for you.

I've heard of other fertility drugs besides Clomid....something called Fermara?

Keep your hopes up....it's amazing what they can do these days.
