Ivf did (and didn't) work on the first time. I did get pregnant. I ended up miscarrying at 5w4d.
Ivf #2 did (and didn't) work. I got pregnant and miscarried at 5w4d. (strange coincidence?)
Had testing done...found some clotting issues...
IVF #3 did work (keeping fingers crossed that it sticks) and have added lovenox (blood thinner) to help with the clotting. Now I am 5w6d. Beat my record!
I think you have a pretty good chance this cycle. Try not to go into it thinking that it has to work, or that it is your only chance. That puts an incredible amount of pressure on you...and that doesn't help! Instead, go into it thinking that you are giving it your best shot and that is the best you can do.
I am not rolling in money (I am a school teacher for goodness sake!) but I tried to tell myself not to think about the money I was spending. I found a good credit card (0 interest for a year) that I put all of the cycle expenses on. I divided up how much I would have to pay a month to get it payed off before the interest started. Then payed a little at a time and didn't overwhelm myself with, "Holy ****! I spent how much!" Plus I got some bonus miles out of it! It's enough to pay for tickets to a nice vacation somewhere!
Have you talked to your doctor about shared risk options, or any other options he has to help people financially? Do they get any donated meds that you can have? My clinic often offers donated meds (from people who were successful) if I run out, instead of making me pay for extra meds. I'll repay the clinic with my unused meds, too, if this one stays put. Are there any sample meds they can give you? I think the main thing is to ask...what is the worst they can say? If it is a no, then you're no worse off than when you asked!
Good luck!
Stacie
Thanks for your positive thoughts and kind words. I really hope that this works for us! I am excited, yet very nervous at the same time, since this is it for us if it doesn't work. I'm just going to try to remain as optimistic as I can, and pray that this is our time!
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Did it work for you the first time? Did you do anything else that you think helped? Any advice would be appreciated!
Just today shayla1 left me a post stating, "IVFmeds.com.....you can get repronex for $12 (generic brand)...injectables are very expensive"
It maybe too late for this cycle but if you need it again maybe this will help with the costs.
Best of luck to you. Hopefully this will be it!!
wow that is so expensive. I hope this works for you and your BFP. you are in my thoughts and prayers :O) super sticky baby dust
Good Heavens! Wow, I had no idea they were that $$$. I know there can be hugh differences between pharmacies, did you shop around? I had an rx once and it ranged between $85(Sam's) to $175(CVS). I truly hope this works for you!
Stephie,
I have high hopes for you this cycle. Try not to focus on the money...it is a lot, but in the scheme of things, when you are holding your baby in your arms, it won't matter how much you spend!
Think positively and know that you have a very good chance at reaching your dream with this!
Take care,
Stacie
P.S. It can work...it did for me! :-)
Just got the call from the pharmacy with the cost of the drugs for this cycle. For a 10 day supply, it's going to cost me $1423.00. Looks like this is our only chance, because I had to borrow the money from my dad for this one. So all of our eggs are in this basket. I am so frustrated with this whole process and the stupid insurance companies. What if it doesn't work? What if 10 days isn't enough? I just feel like bursting into tears.
I never had any injections, but my thought and prayers are with you!!!!!
I have no experience here... but you definatly have my prayers and positive thoughts : )
