Heather, Helen and Bree,

Thank you guys so much, I will also check with my RE. The reason I ask is because I heard some women DH would get about 75mil and up, I never see those numbers for the 5iui's I did. So I was just curious also if we do have to do ICSI we have to pay $1400 for that procedure so I am hoping we dont have to do it.

Heather, Since we are unexplained I am always thinking maybe the reason I am not getting pregnant for all these years is "again maybe" his sperm is not fertilization my egg. Just a thought but lets see what happens.

A big thank you to all of you.

Hi Shellbell! I think your husband's count is perfectly fine! I believe I've heard that they prefer 100,000 sperm per egg, and the average number of mature eggs retrieved is about 8-15. So based on that, you'd probably need between 800,000 and 1.5 million for "natural" fertilization. When doing ICSI, you only need a few good ones ;-)

Our ivf lab did a test before the ivf cycle and told us we did not need ICSI.  I think that your embryologist will answer your question.

Good luck!

Are you going to be using ICSI with your IVF? I know with lower counts that's usually done. If so you wont need to worry about the counts : ) GL with your IVF!!!!
