anyone doing follistim with IUI?

Hi I am 26 and have PCOS. I am on cycle day 7 and currently doing Follistim 150iu injections that will be followed with ovidrell and IUI. I go to the office this Saturday to check the size of the follicle(s). We are hoping for 1-3 but of course the more the better! Is anyone going through the same thing?

Yes, it happened to me. I had 900 and 300 doses and they all contained more medicine. I did some research and apparently the manufacturer puts more for control purposes. Good luck!

I am hopefull! My doctor said that they do put extra medication in them so I am good. Getting all 300 iu pens was smart because its a lot more medicine. I am loving this site!!!!!!

Hi Jenn, I will def keep in touch and see how things are going for you. We are pretty close in our cycles right now and I find it so much easier when you have people to check in with. Check out the pineapple thing..I did and I am gonna try it this month.

Our nurse told up with the 600 IU cartridges we could get an extra 100 IU's out of it cuz its "overflow". So you should be ok..this time around we also have the 300iu cartridges and didn't know if we could get extra out of them or not....

Hi all,

I am taking 150 iu follistem injections and I got 3 doses (450iu) out of one 300 iui cartrage. Has this happend to any of you? Do they put extra med in the pens? I am going to call my doctor today. I hope I am doing it right!!!!!

Thanks ladies!!!! It's nice to know that I am not alone. I am actually on cycle day 6, not 7. I will let you all know about how my follow up goes Saturday. Hi!!  A lovely woman I met from MH gave me this advice and I am def trying it this time around...G if you read this I hope you don't mind me quoting you!! LOL
"I ate a TON of pineapple core.  Apparently it contains bromelain which is an anti-inflammatory and helps with implantation.  I literally ate 5 pineapple cores from about 7 dpo to 13 dpo.  they arent that bad!  One of the girls on here had mentioned it, and then she pestered me to eat it cuz it worked for her.  I figured... what the heck, it cant hurt - and it didnt! "

I did Follistim this cycle 75 IU's... got 2 good size follies and had my IUI on Monday.  So, I'm in the TWW.  I was on Clomid up to 150 mg for quite a few months, it worked at first, produced only 1 follie, but then the last 2 cycles were cancelled due to poor response.  The Follistim produced a lot more follies, but only 2 I think that were ready to go, and I did Ovidrel injection too.  

Mztova --- what is the pineapple core good for? -- just curious.  I just had my IUI on Monday.

Hi Jenn...I also have PCOS, and I am CD5. I started Puregon 150IU's instead of follistim. I will be doing BW on Saturday to see how my levels are and hoping for BW and US on Monday and perhaps IUI next Wed or Thurs....I will be using Ovidrel to trigger as well.

This is my second round of IUI and the first round I had 2 follies but one was not viable..so I had one 22mm follie but got a BFN.
Looks like we will be in our 2ww at about the same time.
I am also going to eat pineapple core this time around after IUI to see if that helps..

My name is Jen too! Me: PCOS, 150iu of Follistim every day, 10 units of lo dose HCG (weird, I know but doc says so...), I will use noverell (spelling?) this time, which is new to me. I usually use the ovidrel and it has aways worked great! I will go in for an IUI probably Saturday or Sunday, depending on what my b/w and scan says tomorrow. Good luck -

I'm just starting, will be injecting next week, taking provera to get things happening, but i'll be using puregon instead of follistim, but not sure yet whether to do an iui or just BD after trigger shot, anyway good luck and hope you get your BFP soon enough.
