has anyone done a frozen egg transfer?

My IVF failed and I have one frozen embryo so we want to use that but I am not sure how it works yet and what is the success rates of frozen cycles?

I would love to hear your experiences.

Arhhh its so nice to hear from a different point,
I wish i knew why my last FET did not work out, i guess us humans can only do so much and mother nature has to fill in the gaps, i can only guess she was else where on my last try. But i did have twins from my first fet so i can tell you it defo does work out for many of us. But some it dont, i hope your daughter gets her bfp this time around,

What a wonderful mom you are!!! :). I really hope your daughter is successful this round!  Please know if it doesn't work, it not because of anything she has done.  Sometimes the most perfect conditions and embryos end up not working. No one knows why.  She has an excellent chance though!!!  
You posted on a very old post. It's from 2009.  You might want to try starting a new post with a heading of " anyone successful with a fet of blasts".  I can assure you though, they have been many many success stories with fet ( frozen embryo transfer) :). Baby dust to your daughter!

My daughter, 30 yrs old just had an FET done yesterday, 11/09/11.  She only had 2 blasts, and they put both in.

Her history is PCOS, so she doesn't make many eggs at all,,,when I read that people have 17 or 18 eggs it blows me away, for my daughter usually only has 3 or 4..

All the artificial insemination's didn't work.  One resulted in a chemical pregnancy.  

Then onto IVF..the first one, they put in 2, 3 day embryos, she had none to freeze, she did get pregnant, but it only lasted a few days, the heartbeat was low on her first sono, and the next it was dead, result=scraping of the uterus.  The second egg of that cycle attached but was empty.

The next cycle, she was lucky and had 7 eggs.  They put 2 in and got to freeze two.. nothing happend, no pregnancy no nothing, at least she had two frozen embryos.

At least she didn't have to wait that long this time, and as I said yesterday, 11/09/11 she had 2 blasts , (thank God, they both made the thaw) and now we just pray.  She is 30, has a perfect uterus, and her numbers and lining are always perfect..I don't understand why this wouldn't work, and the docs never have any answers. All of her friends, are pregnant AGAIN, her BF just had her 4th son..every time she goes on FB, she is hit in the face by all her friends pics of their sonograms, newborn babes and kids galore...My "grandson" is a 150 lb Italian mastiff!!

I am writing this to just get some prayers from the terribly sad Infertile world out there, and I will let u know in 8 days what happens this time.

Thanks for letting me vent, even tho this is not ME...as a parent, who had no trouble getting pregnant, and didn't know anyone who did, this is devastating watching ur child want something so badly and she can't get.  it breaks my heart watching what she must endure to have a child in her life,  I am so sorry for all of u ivf patients..when there are so many unwanted pregnancies and babies and abortions out there..and u guys just wanna have ONE BABY..best of luck to you all..

I am also from Australia and are just completing our second IVF fresh cycle, I don't know who you are with but on last Saturday was our transfer day and the embryologist actually asked us how many embryos we wanted to transfer? My husband and I were a bit shocked because we thought we could only have had one which we still did because the success rates were a lot higher, I am only 25 as well and I don't want to be the new octomum.

We have two frozen embryos after 2 egg pick ups, the success rates are very similar between the fresh and the frozen, apparently with the thawing process there is a 95% chance that it will thaw beautifully. The only thing is the success rate might be a little bit different because when you have the fresh embryo transfer they choose from all of the either 3 or 5 day embryos depending on the way you are getting treated the best embryo and then any others suitable for freezing then get frozen, but for them to be frozen they have to have a descent chance.

Just try and do a frozen cycle straightaway so if it dosen't work you will have time before January 2010 when the goverment is changing the medicare safety net for IVF, to do a stimulated cycle and get more frozen embryos as that is a lot less expensive.

What exactly do you mean with six FETs. Was that in one transfer or?

If not did all work etc.?

My doc only lets me put one embryo back and that is always 5 day blastycyst (in this frozen case it will be a 6day). I am in Australia and they have stricht protocols on how many to put back and with me being under 35 years of age they only put one back.
Their research results shows that 5 day blastycyst gives better results than with 2 or 3 day transfers and they want to avoid multiples also so I have no choice.

My first IVF in 2008 I got 1 embryo back and it worked. We have a son now.

Anyway I don't have a choice as I only got 2 embryos good enough out of my 19 collected so 1 was transfered and failed and 1 was frozen.

I am interested to hear your story.

Each RE I have had has a different protocol for medicines or natural cycles etc

I have had great successes -
(You may want to ask if you could adopt any embies - going through all of that to put only one embie back sounds like a lot!)

Anetski, I just did my third IVF cycle.  This is the first time I used frozen eggs (2 blastocycts).  The first two IVF's were with fresh 3-day transfers.  Both times resulted in a chemical pregnancy.  This time, I did a frozen cycle and I am currently entering my eighth week.  I heard that the rate of succession for frozen does not necessarily drop from a fresh cycle.  I think the downside might be during the thawing process.  More delicate procedure.
