hcg rising, low progesterone and bleeding..help!

I'm new to this and basically just want to know if anyone else has experienced this kind of thing. Here goes...I found out I was pregnant last Monday (5/24) with an hcg level of 272, Tuesday (5/25) night I started bleeding and went to the ER and my hcg level was 381, had an u/s which didn't show anything and I was told that it would either be a viable pregnancy or I would miscarry and the ER doc told me to follow up with my regular ob-gyn. I had more bloodwork done on Thursday (5/27) and my hcg was 501 and my progesterone level was at 5.4. More bloodwork was done on 5/29 and my hcg at that time was 831. Sunday night (5/30) I had a huge gush of blood that filled a pad and I had the worse cramps imaginable and I have them pretty bad during a normal period and these cramps took over my whole entire body I was in so much pain. I saw my ob-gyn on Tuesday (6/1) and she wasn't much help either. She did an internal u/s and said she "thought she saw a sac." She didn't have a definite answer for me, which frustrates me to no end. The nurse said, "Your levels suggest a miscarriage, but stranger things have happened."  I'm just so confused as to why my hcg levels are rising and that I've had heavy bleeding. In some research, I've found that low progesterone levels aren't good. Does anyone have any advice to offer or have had a similar experience? Please help..I'm going crazy.

I called my ob-gyn office today to get my levels from yesterday and they were only 2077. Towards the end of the day, the nurse called me back and told me that the doctor reviewed my chart and wanted me to go to the ER to have a methotrexate shot to dissolve the pregnancy as she now believes it is in ectopic pregnancy. I just got home a little bit ago from the ER and feel a little relieved since I finally have an answer. Thanks for everyones support and good luck to all of you.

I'm so sorry for what you have gone thru, but doctors could not help us on this maner because if it's ectopic or MC, they could not stop it.  All they could do is look closer on you and they did a good job on it since you have several blood works and u/s.  It's still too early to see any thing in the uterus.  I went thru twice, one MC and one ectopic.....HCG is keep going up double till more than 4500 and keep bleeding, found nothing or pseudo sac (sp?)in the uterus....But I don't mean you will have it, may be you will be OK.  I just wish you the best, and take care.

my hcg levels from 6/1 were 1530 which still aren't doubled and they didn't make me schedule a follow-up appointment at the ob-gyn..i don't know if they are waiting to get my levels from today or what. i'm actually very disappointed with my doctor right now so that makes it even harder. I had stopped bleeding yesterday but about an hour and a half ago i started cramping real bad again and the bleeding also began again. i really appreciate everyone's opinions. i just needed to hear that i wasn't the only one out there with this situation. it's very frustrating playing the "waiting game" as my ob-gyn said. thanks for the kind words and support ladies!

I'm sorry you are going through this :( However, I agree with nshapland, the bleeding is not a good sign, and your hcg is rising, but I've always been told that it needs to be at least doubling every 48 hrs, and it doesn't seem to be :(

I'm so sorry this is happening to you.  Did your ob-gyn on Tues (6/1) check your hcg levels?  I'm not a dr, but your progesterone sounds really low and heavy bleeding is not a good sign.
When do you go back to the ob-gyn?
