Yes I was on clomid and they had given me the HCG shot then the next day I went in for my IUI. Its a shot they give in your butt and I couldnt feel it, maybe to much junk in my trunk :) Sorry 5dpo and anxious
Hi again! If you're on climid, then it definitely sounds like it's an HCG trigger your doctor has prescribed. The two most common ones are novarel and ovidrel. Novarel is an intramuscular injection (usually injected into the butt area) and has to be mixed beforehand, while ovidrel is subcutanous shot that is pre-mixed and is administered in the fatty tissue of your stomach. I've actually done my own ovidrel injections, and it's no big deal. But if you're not comfortable doing that, I'm sure your regular doctor can do this for you...at least the first time. Then if you have to use a trigger again, you know how to do it and might be able to skip going to the doctor just for the shot.
Oh, and an IUI is an Intra-Uterine Insemination, where they wash the sperm and inject it straight into your uterus around the time of ovulation. Whether you do timed intercourse or an IUI is totally up to you and your doctor. If you've just started clomid, timed intercourse might be the way to go for now. But either way, you should ovulate about 36 hours after taking the trigger shot (HCG shot), so the doctors usually recommend having intercourse for three days after taking the shot.
Best of luck to you!
I just had the HCG shot last week and it was great because u know that you have the best chance of truly ovulating. I did not have any side effects other then a tender butt where I had the shot. Good luck to you!
My dr is 4hrs away, they said my own dr be able to give me the injections. they not mentioned anything else.... what is iui? i only on the clomid tabs that it.
Lots of women on here use an HCG injection to start the ovulation process. Like brooklyn_gal said, your doctor will monitor you and tell you when the follicle(s) is mature so you can take the shot. Best of luck!
Are you referring to the trigger?
My experience - based on your u/s, your doctor will tell you to use the trigger if you have not ovulated (according to the ovulation kit) by certain date to ensure that IUI and ovulation are at the same time.
Are you doing an IUI?
