not a good start with my 7th ivf

Ok...I'm on day 5 of my ivf cycle.  After my utrasound the nurse told me I had 5 follicles.  I knew I wasn't going to get a lot since my fsh is 9, but this is the lowest amount I ever got with all the other ivf's I did.  The nurse just called me to tell me to continue taking 225 of Repronex and 225 of Follistim.  I asked her if I can take more to get more follicles, so she told me she was going to ask the Dr.  Now the Dr. she was asking isn't my Dr. that I see.  She called me back and said the Dr. said no and that I was on a lot of medication already.  Also, she told me the dr. said she didn't want me to hyperstimiute.  Now, that does not make sense to me.  I doub't I will hyperstimulate with a little more medicine.  I'm just so angry right now.

I'm so sorry you're feeling a bit down right now, but try to stay positive. It's only day five and there might still be a few more popping up as you continue stimming. Also, I have heard that quality is better than quantity, so hopefully the ones that are there are super-strong and getting ready to mature and then get fertilized!

How big were the five follicles? And did they do an antral count before you started stimming?

I'm sorry your so upset, but I just wanted to tell you that when I had to get converted from IUI to IVF, I went from having NO (zero, NONE!) follicles ready on a Friday, and only 3-4 that Friday that even looked like they were in the running to becoming mature) to having THIRTEEN big, mature follicles that following Monday!  

Ya never know what is going to happen in there!  

I agree with Heather too - the more eggs you have the quality can sometimes drop, so I wouldn't get too discouraged until the final results are in!  They may all be beauties!  

As far as hyperstimulation goes, it could be that your estradiol levels were starting to get high which if they get too high is where hyperstimulation happens.  

Keep your chin up!  I have a feeling things will work out!

I'm currently on my 6th IVF cycle and on day 8 of my meds.  My fsh is 9.2.  I went for my b/w & u/s this morning (2nd appt since starting the meds) and there were only 2 measurable follies, measuring around 14 and several other follies on each side that were not measurable yet.  I am currently on 525 follistim and 75 luveris.  The doctor called and dropped my follistim from to 375 for the next 2 days and then back for more monitoring.  My estradiol number was at 689 (which they said was fine, but they wanted to slow it down a bit and let the follies catch up).  I'm typically on the meds for 12-14 days.  Over the next few days, I am expecting my numbers to increase pretty significantly (hopefully).  Typically at this time I only have a few that are measurable but by the time I trigger, there are usually about 10-12 follies and then when they do the retrieval, they typically end up with more, as they can't see all of them with the u/s.  A couple cycles back when I only thought they were going to get about 10 eggs, they ended up with 16 and 11 fertilized!  So, stay positive and give it a little time....they will start popping up in the next few days!  Good luck!!

Helen5-  The follicle sizes were 11, 8, and all the rest were less than 6.  Day 2 they told me I had a 9 for my antral count.

Alt76-  The problem with me is that I don't even get the quality.  Maybe this ivf will be different.  I'm really trying to stay positive with all of this.

Betsta-  You are right that I could end up with more.  I had that happen to me before.  I just get worried sometimes because I don't even get the quality.

My follicle # doubled between the first monitoring appt and retrieval.  I hope next u/s will show more follies.
