side effects from metformin

Has anyone had daily headaches from metformin or hotflashes?Does anyone know how long it takes for metformin to work

My doctor has me on 2000 a day.  It upsets my stomach even with food.  It's so bad I'm considering not taking it.  :(

My dr has me take it before bed since I was having so many issues.  I take 2 @750 mg per day.  The side effects got better for me over time but they still make me have an odd stomach ache.  Talk to your dr (or nurse) and see what they suggest.  I think there are options.
I was wondering if my dosage was too low- but it sounds like that is what everyone else is on!!!

hi well i i have been on metformin for about 7 wks. 1500mg. when i first started I took 1 once a day for a week then 2 a day for a week then I went to the normal dosage of 3 a day. when I started the 3 a day i started feeling symptoms of dizzness, nausea  and diarrhea, i guess it was too much on my stomach, so my doc told me to try taking only one in morning and 2 @ night and it did work.. my symptoms went away. As for how long it takes to work everyone is different  I have not ovulated yet but heres to hoping :) anyway hope this was helpful to u good luck and best wishes....

I have been on metformin for 8 moths now and my dr just uped my dosage to 1500mg. So far it has not worked for me. I am still not ovulating. For me the symptoms were stomach aches, nuasea, head aches. They were really bad when I was getting used to the 1000mg. But once your body gets used to it the symptoms should go away, you might be left with mild cases of them. I found that my symptoms feel better if I am moving around and kepping myself busy but when I relax they get worse. Hope you have better luck than me,
