thanks for answering my questions..i do use a digital fast thermometer maybe thats the problem.no i do not use opk..i have in the past when i was trying for my first baby this is my second and i had a problem they never showed i ovulated so i stopped useing them.i did see a docter after a year of trying in 2001 and he said everything looked fine with me and my husband.only that i ovulated a little late in my cycle.so after a 3 months of bbt i got a bfp.so hopefully i will get another one again.thanks for your inputs.
Some women only see about .20 difference between pre & post o temps and everyone can be quite different in what is "normal". I've seen charts where 94 is pre o and 96 is post o. I rarely get as low as 96.8. Most of my pre o is 97.0-97.5 and post o is 97.6-98.4. Do you use opks also?
Are you using one of those thermometers that give you your temp in about 9 or 12 seconds? I've been charting for almost two years now, and until recently I never had a problem identifying my thermal shift. My older digital thermometer started to act up, so I replaced it with one of those quick results type and it is completely useless for bbt. During the first half of my cycle my temps bounced around from mid 96s to low 97s. In the second half of my cycle my temps were high 96s to mid 97s. I went and bought another one made for bbt. It takes two minutes to get a more accurate temp. Waiting two minutes can seem to drag on a little, but it is worth it.
Normally, the first half of my cycle is from high 96s to mid 97s and the second half of my cycle is from high 97s to low 98s.
Oh another thing I like to do, is at the end of your cycle, count back 13 to 14 days (usually 14). That should be when you ovulate and you should see the thermal shift.
Best of luck to you.
