well i got bad news today:(

I had an u/s today to see if i had any follicles ready to ovulate. Well i do BUT i also have a cyst the size of a grapefruit on my ovary. so i have to have surgery next wend at 845 cst. i am sad because this is the only ovary i have left and if something happens to it then i can have anymore kids. i am trying to tell myself that everything is going to be just fine and the doc said that if there is a chance that i could loose my ovary she will just drain the cyst and remove the scar tissue and not risk it. i am glad about that. I have two beautiful children already and if something were to happen to my ovary after a few days of depression and feeling sorry for myself i will go on but i hope that doesnt have to happen. My only question is why did they prescribe clomid this month without doing an u/s at the beginning of the month to see if it was gone cause it was in the u/s last month it was only 4 cm then but it grew to 10cm in 4 weeks probably dew to the clomid. i am frusterated and scared. but wish me luck and keep me in your prayers and thoughts i will let you all know more when i know more.

my obgyn is doing it at 8:45 CST wend the 9th. its getting closer and i am getting more anxious. so by the time it gets here i will be a great big mess..lol.. i have had to work the last few nights so i havent been able to sit and think about it. but i dont work at all the rest of the weekend or next week so there will be plenty of time for that. i do have to do some major cleaning because my mom is coming tues to stay the night and you know how mothers are if i dont do it she will do it and complain about it later:) so that will keep me busy for the next few days i hope.

I know how hard it is to stop worrying, but I really think it is going to be alright.  Odds are all in your favor and your doctor is doing the right thing to go in and check things out.  This give him/her a chance to make sure all is 'clear' and looking good. Someone said to me it is like having a chance to clean up for female parts - draining or removing anything that could stop you getting PG.  Your surgery is Wednesday?  How is doing it - RE or GYN??

I'm sorry to hear about your cyst.  It is surprising to me that they didn't  monitor you more closely given a cyst was previously detected.  However, I believe everything is going to be alright with you.  I think these ovarian cyst surgeries are fairly routine for certain groups of people, PCOS for example.  Everything will be routine, you'll come out with your ovary no worse for the wear I'm sure.  I'm wishing you a speedy recovery.

Don't worry everything will turn out fine.  They will drain it and you will still have your ovary....just wait and see!  I know I'm a little bit late with a response and hope all went well for you.  Please keep us posted and I will be watching and waiting to hear how everything went!.....Lots of prayers!

I still have my cyst...no one knows for sure if it is a hemorragic (sp?) or endometrioma.  My  gyno sent me to the oncologist after a year of monitoring the cyst and after a strange looking U/S. I have elevated CA 125 levels (tumor markers) so no RE would see me until I went through my oncologist.  My oncologist does not believe it is cancer and finally gave me the all clear to begin my TTC journey. I had my first appointment with my RE three weeks ago. He left it up to me about laparoscopic surgery and I think I am going to go for it. That way we will know for sure what kind of cyst it is and I can move on.  My right ovary seems be "aged" and with not many eggs left. So, like you, I am banking on the one ovary.  My gyno and my oncologist did not want to do surgery because they were afraid I would lose the ovary, but my RE is confident we can biopsy it and also check for endometriosis safely. He wants to jump into IVF but I am hopeful for some less expensive options first!!

I don't have much pain - but my pain tolerance is really high so I probably should speak up more than I do. You are probably the same!!

I know what you mean by having so many questions. I lived on the ovarian cancer DB for months - worried and confused.  Glad to find my way back to the TTC boards...when is your surgery??  One thing I did that helped was getting a hard copy of all my U/S reports. They help you make sense of all this!!

You know amazingly i didnt have any discomfort until today. everyone is surprized im not doubled over in pain. i am hoping that if everything goes ok with the surgery we can get pregnant on our own so we dont have to worry about more cysts growing:) are you back into the ttc game? was yours removed vis surgery or did it go away? how long did you have to wait until you could try again. I have so many questions but no one to really answer them:) thanks

Totally understand...trust me after deal with an ovarian cyst for over a year I know more than I would ever want to. It is good they are scheduling surgery.  Sounds like a septated cyst with solid components.  Is it causing pain?  I would assume one that large would cause pain. It probably grew from the chlomid. Mine did, but my gyn monitored me every couple of weeks when I was on chlomid. I  took it for two cycles and then she took me off so that she could more closely monitor my cyst.  Keep me updated...

it is complex and there is actually a "septum" in it you can see like a wall in it that divides the cyst in two but it is still one cyst. if you get what i am saying:)

Is your cyst complex or simple?  A simple cyst should go away on it's own. A complex cyst that large should be examined through laparoscopic surgery.  I can't think of any reason for them to take your ovary unless they biopsy the cyst and find cancer.  I am being monitored by an oncologist due to an ovarian cyst so I know how you feel. My TTC was put on hold for months and months...please keep us updated.

I am so sorry Amanda. They most definitely should have monitored you with u/s, especially on Clomid. I get cysts from it, but they go away each cycle. I am praying hard that it all goes very well for you. I hear you on the IVF, I can't swing it w/o a 2nd mortgage and I'm not sure I want to go that route with no guarantees. If I knew it would work on the 1st try, I'd probably do it.

Think only good thoughts.  ((((hugs))))
