High level Hormones

Hi Dr,
High estrogen and prolactin (under control now with medication) are delaying my ivf treatment.  Could you help me see the big picture here, please?  Should I fear an early menopause?  I'm only 41 in less than a week.  What are the treatments for this condition?  Is there a specific diet I should adopt?  I found out about food containing phytoestrogen and the ones that inhibit the estrogen as well as some natural medication that help estrogen metabolism (DIM).  Should I see a nutritionist? Acupunturist?
Thank you for your time
M.

Hi!
High estrogen levels can be an indicator of diminished ovarian resevere--and if so, there is really nothing that can be done. This is usually found in conjunction with high FSH levels, and often a low antral follicle count.

High prolactin levels can be an indicator of a prolactinoma, and most of the time an MRI of the pituitary gland is the next step in the work up to rule out a large mass. There are definitely medications that can lower the prolactin level.

If you are considering IVF, you must have an RE identified, and I'm sure that person will have some recommendations for you regarding the values as well.

Accupuncture is a wonderful idea for "older" clients as it improves the blood flow to the reproductive organs and helps with ovulation, implantation, etc.

Hope this helps!
Good luck!
