No period after Aygestin

No period after Aygestin

Hi,
I am 19years old diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis. I've tried every type of birth control but all of them failed when it comes to treating pain. So, my doctor put me on Aygestin for about 2straight months I've been taking this medicine but due to high blood pressure, acne, weigh gain and many other side effects I stopped the medicine.
For two weeks now Im not on Aygestin, and I am worried because I am not bleeding at all. I've been protected with my guy at all times as we are very careful using protection when having an intercourse, so there's no way I can be pregnant.
Two days ago I also noticed that my nipples are swollen and very sore, that might be probably from sucking but not sure.
And I am experiencing cramps for 3days now. I am just worried why I am not getting my period or any type of bleeding at all? 3 days ago when cramps came in I got some brown discharge but thats all.
Please help and explain to me what can cause that I am not bleeding yet?

Hi!
The Aygestin is a progesterone and it is similar to depo provera ("the shot") in its mechanism of action. Since you were on it for several weeks, it has probably kept your uterine lining from developing.  If there is no lining to slough off, there won't be any period, or just a minimal amount--like the brownish discharge.  It will take several weeks for your cycles to resume, but eventually they should return to normal.  With depo  provera use, it can take up to 18 months for fertility to resume.  With Aygestin, it probably won't take that long.
Have your doctors considered using GnRh agonists such as Lupron for you?
At your age, you will have to be very careful about your bone density, but you could use Lupron with add back hormones, and it might give you relief from pain as well as reduce formation of new endometriosis in the hopes of preserving some degree of fertility for you.
I hope this is helpful!
