sex after salpingectomy

on 7th March i had left side salpingectomy and haven't spoken to my ob/gyn about resuming our sex life. how long should we wait?
Also at the point of surgery the consultant advised that i should expect my next period in around 7 days however i have not had this as yet, is that normal?

Hi!
I usually advise my patients that it is ok to resume relations after 6 weeks.  Most probably do so sooner.  Often surgery will bring on a period, especially if an ovary or ovarian cyst is removed.  I would not be concerned if it did NOT happen though.  You should have something within 4-6 weeks.  If not, may want to touch bases with your doc.
