2 uterus and 2 cervix

I don't want to sound horribly unsympathetic, but I recently learned that my girlfriend, who I care for deeply, has 2 uterus and 2 cervix.  I would compare this to me having 2 penis's and that to me would be really strange, and I imagine a problem. How often does this happen?  Is this a genetic condition?  Would my kids be in danger of having the same condition?  Is this condition symilar to a hermaphrodite?  Is a woman with this condition more likely to give birth to a child of both sexes?  I know I sound extremely ignorant, and I guess I am.  I need to know what I should be looking out for.

This discussion is related to 2 uterus and 2 cervix.

Hey! I am 19 years old, will be 20 in June. My husband and I just had a little girl in August in which I had to have a C-Section because she was breech through out our whole pregnancy. During my C-Section, my sergeant noticed I had 2 uterus. She said it was very uncommon but everything was fine. On my 6 week check up, I found out that I had 2 cervix as well. Our daughter is perfectly healthy, the pregnancy went great, but I did have a lot of back pain and dizzy spells and feet hurt SO bad, worse than normal and had 2 kidney stones towards the end of my pregnancy, I think I may have passed them when I was in the hospital because I've never had a problem with them or anything. I have a Dr. apt Thursday for this to find out more, I will post some more information when I find out if you like.

Hi shouldIbeconcerned! Having two uterus is not very common, but it does happen, and it's not at all like being a hermaphrodite. Having two penises would also be completely different, since your girlfriend does not have two vaginas, only two uterus and cervixes (by the way, the cervix is just the opening to the uterus towards the very top of the vagina)  As long as all else is normal, it probably won't affect your girlfriend or you...except possibly when the time comes to have a baby. At that point, she would probably need some guidance from a specialist to make sure each uterus is a normal size that can carry a baby to full term.

So no worries...
