My Husband and I have just had our 1st IVF cycle. It was unsucessful. Is there anyone out there that has tried it for the 2nd time and it was sucessful?

I've also heard about DHEA but have never used it.  I tried my 2nd IVF in October and now am waiting - Blood test is on Wednesday.  My problem has been my egg quality which stinks.  If this one doesn't work, I'm going to ask my RE about using DHEA. I actually found a really good study about it.  I'll try to find and forward it to you.

Good luck

Hi Hopeful,

DHEA is a supplement that is said to possibly increase the quantity of eggs released during an IVF cycle... I found this on the web and some of the research supporting this is anecdotal and certainly not double-blind / peer reviewed studies... but none the less, there are no long term side-effects and it has worked for many women, especially older women with poor ovarian reserve... I only got 7 eggs at my first IVF and only 4 fertilized. They implanted 2 back and told us that the remaining 2 were not quality embryos and suggested to not freeze them. I'm really hoping that I will have more eggs this time... cause other research seems to suggest that you have a better chance of getting pregnant on a FET (frozen transfer) than a fresh cycle transfer... anyways, I'm really hoping for the best cause this is going to be our last attempt at IVF, no matter what the outcome is.

I'm really hoping to see some more encouraging messages from ladies who have sucessfully gotten pregnant on their 2nd IVF... Just like you, I have a son (almost 4 yrs old now) and wish to give him a sibling...

Good luck... keep me posted on any new developments on your part... I am scheduled to start my meds in late November so I'll need all the support I can get! Thank goodness for sites like this one!

I am pregnant on my 2nd IVF cycle!!! WITH TWINS!!!! I think ACUPUNCTURE was our answer...it was the best.  If you can do it, you should, if you can't, then make sure you are less worried, more relaxed and trust the docs.  Good luck!

We got pregnant on our second cycle of IVF.  We had assisted hatching on the second try and I believe that that is what did it for us. We are now 21 weeks pregnant.

I did get pregnant on my second IVF cycle, but it ended early in miscarriage. I got pregnant again on my third IVF cycle, and I'm due in 11 days.  Good luck to you.

Hi Hopeful! We also had a unsuccessful IVF in February 08... no eggs made it to freeze either.

Now, we're gearing up for another IVF round, should start meds in late November. I have been taking DHEA for almost 2 months in hopes of increasing the number of healthy eggs so that we could have some embies making it to freeze if (God forbid!) this 2nd IVF also fails. I don't know if DHEA really works but I am willing to try anything.

I am so drained both physically and mentally riding this IF roller coaster, seriously, we've already decided that we will be adopting internationnaly if IVF fails. I would actually prefer adopting an orphan child that needs parents rather than go through another IVF round of meds and proding but my husband is not ready to give up the "biological child" thing...

Good luck! When are you starting up for round 2?
