39 eggs retrieved today-- any tips on OHSS?

Hi-- my surprise IVF cycle netted 39 eggs-- they left in a few that would have been very uncomfortable to retrieve.  Just wondering how others with similar numbers dealt with the OHSS.  I've been told to only drink Gatorade and V8 & eat lots of salt... and other tips?  Has anyone had to be drained?  Sounds scary.

Thanks Imcrt.  I'm taking in all the salt I can.  I must say, I'm feeling so much better after the retrieval!  My ovaries must have been huge.  I think my RE is pretty worried about OHSS since she's only going to transfer one embryo -- she said it could get really bad if I'm pg with twins.  I'm a little disappointed since twins would have been amazing but I know it's the safest thing to do.

How's your little bean progressing?

Drinking lots of gatorade will help but bedrest helps the most. If you start to have a hard time breathing or start gaining more than 7 pounds then you will most likely need to be drained. I just delt with the severe bloating like I was 5 months pregnant and going to burst and eventually the bloating went down after about a month. If you get pregnant the OHSS will start to get alot worse. I new I was pregnant becuase of the severe bloating. Good luck
