3rd hcg beta after IVF 69% increase -should we worrry?

Hi all,

I am looking for any insight regarding 3rd beta test results after ivf. We had 1 m/c at 7 weeks post our 1st ivf cycle, and we are now on fresh cycle 2. (3rd really 1st attempt failed before ET).

We had 3 embies transferred 5dp ET on 10/8/2010 (Transfer) 1 expanded blast grade 3 and 2 early blast grade 3 (icsi and assited hatching)
1st beta-822 (10/22/2010)
progesterone 53.3
2nd beta-1922 (10/24/2010)
progesterone-83
3rd beta-3280 (10/26/2010)
progestrone-68

My question is should we be concerned that the 3rd beta only shows about a 68-69% increase and did not double fully in the 48 hour time period (I know I have seen 48-72 hours, but with our 1st 2 betas we were looking great)...
Also why would the progesterone drop after such a surge?

We take 2cc's of PIO each night and have been since pre transfer.

Just a bit worried we might not be progressing the way we should, and very scared of another loss. No embies left to freeze and this is our last ivf cycle.

Hoping to hear other's stories.

BBD to all!!

Oh thank you both for commenting back!! I am trying not to worry and the RE did not seem concerned, but with such a nice increase with Beta 2 it just concerned us both that we did not "double" in the 48 hour period, albeit 69% is a nice increase.

@hope_floats-
I agree I too think/thought more than 1 may have taken...which would be fantastic. If the lower levels 3rd beta are due to 1 "vanishing" as unfortunate as that would be we are just praying for at least 1 healthy baby!

Our clinic only does 3 betas so we're off to the next stage of the waiitng game until our U/S scheduled for 11/22 (what a wait), but nearly as long as it's taken to get here.

Thanks again this certainly helps! We'll keep you posted on the outcome for sure.

Your numbers look real good to me. And with such high values for both bhcg and progesterone, it looks like a possibility of multiples.
Best of luck. Pls post ur outcome.

Did your RE say anything? From what I read online, I think a rise in beta of at least 60-66% is what they look for (over 48 hours). I know that as your beta increases, the rate at which it increases lessens. So for lower betas, you see greater proportionate rises than for higher betas. My progesterone was only about 20 when I was pg and I was taking crinone. To me 68 is really high. My RE was not concerned and I delivered a healthy DS 9 months later.

Try not to worry and good luck!
