EGG RETRIEVAL ... DOES HIGHER NUMBER MEAN LESSER QUAILTY

Maybe someone can shed some light?
18 eggs retrieved today, is that to many?
last cycle there were 14 and only 1 reached blastocyst, to no avail.

Does quantity mean lack of quality??
Or maybe PSO??

When it comes to your egg retrieval, I don't think quality and quantity have much to do with each other.  When I had my retrieval, they got 29 eggs!  The doctor was THRILLED with that result!  Of the 29 eggs, 16 fertilized.  Our first IVF (fresh cycle) didn't work.  But we had one blastocyst that survived the freeze/thaw process and our FET worked and now I'm 11 weeks pregnant!

I'd say that your quantity of eggs retrieved is excellent!

Good luck!

Did you have transfer yet Nora?
I don't know if more means less quality all the time but it could be possible in some cases. Sometimes it could have to do with stimming meaning the follicles grew but didn't have time to mature or possibly there are other things that affect fertilization. Your doc should have some idea. Keep in mind all it takes is one!
