how long did it take you?

Hello,

My partner and I have been trying for our first baby together (I have two from a previous relationship) for three cycles now. I stopped taking the pill three months (ish) ago, and since have had two positive ovulation tests in two cycles. We have sex everyday around ovulation, and still we haven't been caught.

With my first child it took 18 months as I come off the depo, and my second child was first time. I'm so inpatient and seeing many friends annoucee their pregnancies. I'm so happy for them, but wish it was our turn.

How long did it take you guys, and any tips. Its been 4 1/2 yrs since I last tried for a baby.

Thank you,
Julie.
:) x

We have been trying for 4 years. it took two  and a surgery to get pregnant the first time. i mc at 12 wks. then iuis for the next two mc. Just give it time. I know it is hard for u to wait but u know that both of u can get prego so give it time. Gl with the drs app. just deep breaths and taking it day by day. also do stuff to get your mind off of it. travel, hang out, work, bd for fun. anything.

We tried unsuccessfully for 16 months then had to turn to IVF, which resulted in twins who are now almost 7 months old!

I can definitely feel you on the whole "everyone is getting pregnant but me". At the time when we had no answers, it seemed like every time I turned around someone else was having a baby...but me. Now with my twins, I feel like I've won the lotto! Good luck and I hope that very soon you'll have another little one!

One year of natural trying--no dice. Heck those OPKs came up ovulating, double ovulating, not ovulating. I gave up after a while and guessed. :)

Then 1 round on unmonitored Clomid + IUI = no dice

Second round of Clomid, monitored, trigger shot + IUI = beautiful boy who is now 2.5. It was our second month trying w/ ART.

Good luck. I learned that while for many, it seems that pregnancy is easy, if you really look into the science of what it takes to get pregnant, it's not that easy. It helped me get through a difficult time. (even though 2 of our best friends got pregnant the first try. Go figure. :))

Also, sometimes the only way to get the best results is from a blood test!  When I was pregnant with my daughter, the only test that showed positive was a blood test!  I had taken 5 urine tests which included 1 at my local health department and also 1 at my family dr and they were all neg!  I had to have a blood test to confirm my pregnancy!  That may be what you need as well!

I'm 25, 26 in October, so I'm using that too. My partner is 6 months younger then myself also. I've still not come on my period, but did a test yesterday and was negitive.

We got pregnant the first month with our first, it took 3 years with our second (ended in miscarriage) and 1 1/2 years for our third (20 weeks Monday!).

What kept me going was my age - I'm only 28, so at least I had that!

Good luck to you!  It took us seven years of trying before we were able to conceive.  And we finally were only able after doing IVF.  I agree with laci25 - don't stress yourself out yet!!  Doctors don't even bat an eye unless you've been trying for at least six months, and you're not diagnosed with infertility until you've been trying for a year.  Although I know how gut-wrenching it is when you want to get pregnant SO much and it's just not happening!!  But it WILL happen - when the time is right!

I would say since it has only been a couple months since you started trying, give it some more time!  I know it is not always easy waiting but if you stress yourself out too much worrying about trying to get pregnant, that can also make it harder to get pregnant.  Just try and stay calm and I have always seen it best to just not think about it.  That way if and when it happens, you will be happy, ready, and somewhat surprised :)  Good luck and I hope it works out for you :)
