Getting converted from IUI cycle to first IVF - a little nervous

YIKES!  I went from having no follicles even close to mature as of last Friday to having TWELVE mature today!  I even stayed on the minimum dose of follistim this time (75/day).  I have PCOS so we knew it was a possibility, but I didn't think it would happen so quickly.  It was a little overwhelming - they're throwing consent forms at me and asking if I have all these things I've never heard of before, and I just kept saying "all I have is the follistim and lupron".  I go back tomorrow so I will know more, and they said they'd have all those things that I'd never heard of waiting for me (plus the Ovidrel which I had heard of).  We were prepared - they had me apply for this IVF grant in case this happened, since none of this is covered for us and we have no money.  Turns out the IVF will be CHEAPER than the IUI!  It's pretty amazing.  But I'm worried because my last treatment which was our first IUI and our first try on injectables ended in a chemical pregnancy.  I'm just so scared that I'm gonna go through all of this (which is much more involved than IUI) and it's gonna end the same way - I don't think I could take it.  I'm also worried because they called back and said my estrogen was high so I should only do the lupron tonight and no more follistim.  I'm a little anxious about getting OHSS.  I did gain about 5 pounds this weekend (I weigh the most I've EVER weighed - so that was five pounds more than my usual maximum weight fluctuation), and I wasn't eating much.  They said they didn't see any free fluid and I'm not super bloated like the last time I was hyperstimulated, so I'm trying to be patient and hope they know what they are doing.

The grant was obtained through my RE's office and I believe it's a New York State grant that they got.  The RE's office then distributes the grant to their own patients based on need.  Since I was out of work a lot for various health reasons and dh was a student, Dh and I made a combined total of $23,000 last year, but since he has his own business and was a student, after his business losses our gross income was $13,000 and after the standardized deductions our taxable income was zero.  So our contribution out of the $14,000 that the office charges is $600!  Sometimes it pays to be broke!  They said if the combined income is $50,000, the usual contribution is $2000.

Just wondering if you have any information on the IVF grant you mentioned.  Just thought I'd ask since waiting on IUI results (won't know for almost 2 weeks) but might have to go the IVF route later on if that didn't work...and money is a factor with us as well.

Sending you best of wishes with your follies and upcoming ivf!

Although, I am not sure which is worse, the retrieval (which is usually mild) or the tww afterward!

Best of luck to you! And like Anne said, it is natural to worry.... I swear women were born with a worry gene!!!

IVF is not bad so don't be afraid.  I always hurt really badly from fluid retention the three days after retrieval but that is the worst of it.  I understand about the fear of the chemical preg. and have had one myself so I get nervous everytime I think of trying again.  Give it all to God.  Don't be afraid - this is a good thing - you have more than one chance with more eggs - good luck to you.

I know it should be good news.  I don't know why I'm being such a baby about it.  I'm so scared of going through all the extra stuff and having another miscarriage.  I know I should be excited - I just wish we had gotten to the bottom of why I lost the last one.
