How often to BD?!

My DH and I are starting yet another month of ttc. I'm wondering what everyone has been told about how often to "try". I've heard everyday although maybe that's too often, and I've heard every other day too. Assuming he has a normal count, what's the ideal? Also, is it really neccessary to lay flat for a half an hour afterward?

My husband and I have been told by our RE to BD everyother day.  We also use PreSeed which is this lubricant that is suppose to help the boys making where they need to go.  You can usually find it cheapest online.  Good Luck

I know what you mean. that was exactly my goal after my first m/c. I was due Sept. 27th of 2006 and did find out I was pregnant on Oct. 2nd or 3rd, I don't remember. but I did m/c again the end of Nov. so the holidays were very hard as my husbands cousin and sister in law were pregnant also, and his other cousin had her baby in Nov. it was so hard to be happy for them when I was so sad for my husband and myself. both of my due dates were very hard (I just came up on the Sept. 27th one again and it was still hard) but I went and got a single rose on the day and when it bloomed I took a picture to have forever. on the other due date (in May) my husband and I went and picked out flowers together and planted them in a pot outside on our patio. I had to do something special on their days. Anyway, I guess we'll just not let more than 2 days go by and around what should be O time do it everyday! sorry to ramble, nobody in my family or circle of friends have had a m/c so it's nice (in some way) to find someone who really knows how I feel.

We did his pretty late at night just because, but I have read from other people's postings and from reading online that between 5-7pm is when they have the highest sperm counts.  I don't know why.  Oh and in the instructions for the kit it says to wait a certain amount of days, but it just didn't make sense in our case.  It says to wait like 3 days inbetween, but we would never have 3 days inbetween BDing, so we went with what is more likely which was two days of being stored (like every other day) and then followed by the very next day (like when doing it every day).  It seemed to be basically the same result. I have been pregnant by him before, so we know it can happen. It just made me relax a bit more to know we couldn't do it too much.  I hope we aren't much longer either.  My old due date is coming up and I can't stand the thought of hitting that date and not being pregnant.

silly question but are the tests accurate? is it true that sperm counts can vary at different times of the day? I've had 2 healthy children but my last 2 pregnancies ended in early m/c and since my cycles were wacky my Dr. put me on clomid for 4 cycles. unfortunatly it didn't work but they said they could also test my husband to see where his count is at...I'm just trying to avoid $$$$ with medical bills. so yes, we live right by a Walgreens so maybe I'll look at that. I saw you are on your tww-good luck! I had read your story and am so sad for you! I try to look at each new cycle as a new opportunity...I just hope it won't be much longer!!!!!

Here is what I have read/been told.  I was told that if the sperm count is normal that you can BD every 12 hours or every day and if it is a bit lower you can do it every other day.  And yes, laying on your back is supposed to help as by gravity it helps pool all the sperm near the cervix and allows them to get where they need to go.  I'm not sure where you live, but they sell a sperm count test OTC at Walgreens for around $30 and that is what I did with my DH just to make sure that his count was normal every other day and every day.  It comes with two tests.  Sure put my mind at ease!
