ivf tips

Hello all. I am new to this forum. I had a frozen embryo transfer 9 days ago. Tomorrow I am going for my first pregnancy test. Other than being unusually tired, hungry, and depressed and minor occasional cramping I have not had any symptoms. I have no ovaries due to ovarian cancer, since I have no ovaries will my symptoms and chances be different than for those ladies with ovaries undergoing frozen embryo transfer?

Well, unfortunately no matter how good your clinic is, them's the odds (and that holds equally for women who have not had cancer).  I had my child by donor egg, so I am all for IVF, but won't bore you with how many tries I have made to give him a sibling.  I also want you to know that even when you think you have come up against the final shut door, surprisingly you have not.  It's not shut until in your heart you don't want to try any more.

Good luck, post your results!!!! I'm pulling for you.

Thank you. Yes I was very lucky but am very nervous because between surgeries I froze embryos and have a limited number.   Yes I'm injecting progesterone oil. Inserting progesterone vaginally and taking es trace. I am always thirsty but no nausea or vomiting. And one time before I did ivf and was told one day I was pregnant and the next time I wasn't.

I don't think the lack of ovaries will make a lot of difference.  Their role is to produce the egg, and of course the entire system is connected so they probably do some hormone support during pregnancy, but when a person does IVF the first thing the doc does (if she has ovaries) is turn them off with Lupron so they will not ovulate and interfere with the cycle the IVF doc is trying to produce.  I assume you are getting estrogen supplementation and progesterone daily, this will carry you through the early weeks until the placenta takes over with producing the hormones.  Let your doctor be your guide, but it does not sound like you are having symptoms that are any different than any other person going through IVF.

Congrats on beating ovarian cancer.  So many do not know until it is too late.
