Amnio went great

First, I want to thank everyone for your amazing support the last couple of days. You ladies mean the world to me. My DH is really thankful to all of you, too!

The amnio was really really easy. In fact, I felt absolutely nothing. My OB did the procedure and before he put the needle in he said I may feel a pinch or some cramping, but I felt nothing. The needle goes in very quickly. My OB said the amount of discomfort you feel is based on where the injection site is. Mine was on the left side of my belly. I always thought they go in through the belly button, but they don't.  The procedure is done with continuous ultrasound and took less than a minute. I feel a little bit of pressure now, but nothing really to speak of. I took some Tylenol just in case but I really feel fine.

So, if you are thinking about having an amnio and are scared, please know that it is really easy and probably not what you ever expected. I even teased the medical staff and said, "That was it?!? Let's do it again!"

My OB said he looked at the U/S from the other day and he is "not convinced there is anything to be seen." This really put me at ease, but my DH said he will not relax until we get the final results. We will get preliminary results known as FISH on Monday and the final results in about a week or so.

And it was confirmed that it's a boy!

We have pictures but need to get them scanned so we can post them and send them to family and friends.

Big Hugs,

Sue

I am so soooo glad everything went well for you and DH today!!  I am happy to hear the amnio was easy just in case I decide to do one later on!!  I agree with Tina -  take it easy today, tomorrow and through the weekend!!  That seems very fast for the results so that is nice - not too much waiting (that seems to be all us pregnant ladies do is wait!!)!!  If, God forbid, the unthinkable happens please let me know and I can put you in touch with my sister.  She is very compassionate and would be an excellent person to coorespond with.  But I am  still praying and VERY hopeful that your results will be PERFECT!!!  Especially after what your OB said - and they should know!!  Good luck and keep us informed!!
