hcg shot failed

i have been searching for anyone who has experianced what i just went though. i went through all the shots for ivf-2nd time, (first cycle cancelled due to poor response), took my hcg test, went in for the retrival only to wake up and be told they found no eggs and no hcg was found in my system. i am a wreck in thinking i did not give myself the hcg shot correctly. My doctor mentioned taking Ovidrel which is a pre filled syringe (would have loved to have known this before!) is it effective? to go through all of this and to fail because of something i may have done is heartbreaking. i  prepared myself for anything but not this outcome. it feels like a loss and i am grieving. i hope my story helps someone else; be assertive and don't be hesitant to ask and reask questions.

thanks for the kind words; we are set to try again in October; I am planning on having a nurse premix the trigger shot or I will try the prefilled Ovidrel. I am going to ask that they test my level beforehand so I do not wake up again to this terrible kind of news. The clinic i go to say that they typcially do not test before a retrival; I hope they change this even if it happens rarely. I had five follicles of good size. I'm not giving up :)

did they not monitor follicle growths by ultrasounds before informing you to take the trigger?

I am so sorry that happened to you. Did they not give you the Ovidrel shot? You should not blame yourself. It is your doctor's responsibility to make sure you have all of the proper medications and instructions. I am sorry this happened and I hope you will get to do a new cycle very soon.
