Could I have been pregnant???

by misszinke, Jul 02, 2010 08:35AM
Hello Ladies!

I've never posted on a forum about my infertility and TTC.  I thought I would join in and see how it feels/helps my spirits.  I am now 32 and my husband is 29.

Hubby and I have been trying to conceive for 2.5 years. :|  We started to try in January of 2008. After 1 year of TTC, we took matters into our own hands.  It's too heart wrenching to just "keep trying" and wonder why it's not working. I have long cycles, anywhere from 30-38 days.  Usually it's about 32. But it's never clockwork.  I tend to ovulate around day 20-23 of my cycle. (I am NOT a 14-28er, that's for sure!)

February of 2009 we started testing:

Jan: semen analysis (Two of them, not superior results, but not destitute either)
February: I have a 42 day cycle, have a period, and then within two weeks, I had another period, even though it was lighter.  That had never happened and I still don't know what that was all about.
March: 10 treatments of Accupuncture and Chinese herbs.
April: tube dye test (Open tubes, phew!)
May: HSG tests (They notice a fibroid in my uterus)
July: Failed IUI :(
August-December: we take it easy and stop testing and spending $.

February 2010:
Myomectoy on February 2nd (Fibroid removal).  During the surgery, the doctor said that he had NEVER seen an endometrial lining that was so THICK in someone who didn't have endometrial cancer.  Now they believed me when I said I had VERY painful, Heavy, Long periods.
March 14th: Period.
April 15th: Period.
May 20th: I have a period.
June 23rd: I put a tampon in, to "catch my period" (day 35 of my cycle.) Take it out later that day, and it only has a small amount of brown discharge.  Hum, interesting. Ok.
June 24th. Same as June 23rd.
June 25th: Negative pregnancy test. :( No bleeding or nothing for the next few days.)
June 28th: it's now day 40 of my cycle.  My hopes are UP!  I rarely take pregnancy tests because the period always came, but for the second time in my life, I made it to day 40.  I took a Digital HPT Clear Blue Easy that morning and it said: PREGNANT. I about passed out. I couldn't believe it, and in fact, I didn't believe something like this would happen to me. We've never been pregnant.
June 29th: I am at a store, and I feel "wet" down town.  I rush to the bathroom, and there is the brownish blood and pinkish red blood, on my underoos. :(  I panic. I worry. It can't be!  I go home and clean up and put a tampon in.  That night I pull it out and it wasn't totally covered in blood.  It was like that dark blood, and slightly brown, like the start of my periods. Not "gushing" yet.
June 30th: Feeling great, no blood, no brownish stuff, nothing! Feeling positive again.
July 1st: Afternoon, I go to wipe and it's brown/pinkish, sort of light red.  I get crampy that night.  I feel bloated. I have loose stools, all things that happen when I am on my period.  However, the flow isn't GUSHING yet, like it usually is withing 24 hours of "starting my period."  It's more that 10-12 days passed "implantation bleeding" by now, right?

Today: July 2nd.  I wake up and pull the tampon out and it's about 75% covered, but not in heavy dark blood.  Cramps are still present but not too bad.  I took another pregnancy test (First Response) this morning around 5 am and the second (pregnancy line) was VERY FAINT, but it was there. They say if you can see ANY kind of line, then it's positive. Hum? :\

Can anyone relate to this?  DO I take ANOTHER pregnancy test in a few days? Maybe a digital one?  I am bleeding, but not heavily like I usually do. I feel mild cramping. It feels like I am on a period, but I don't have heavy bleeding and I still am showing a positive pregnancy test.  I don't want to get my hopes up, if this isn't what the pregnancy tests are telling me.  It is possible to have "miscarried" is that short window of time?

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.  It ***** suffering in silence!

XOXO

What are you having done for your Laparoscopic surgery?  Are they just "looking"?  (I had one of those too!)

Update on my status:

I started my period and took two more pregnancy tests this past weekend (during my flow) and they were both negative. :(  BOO ON THAT!

Thank you for all your feedback. I learned a lot of new things by your comments!

My husband and I have had a hard week.  We were celebrating pregnancy, only to realize we lost it.  In the midst of losing this pregnancy, I felt extreme HOPE.  Hope that we CAN do this again!  Hope that a miracle will happen and we'll conceive on our own.  I've never had a positive pregnancy test, and that was a reason to celebrate, even though it didn't last.  It was a sign that things are improving!  We haven't had any fertility treatments since I had my myomectomy in February.

I started reading a book called THE INFERTILITY CURE and it is INCREDIBLE!  I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone TTC.  I was able to identify deficiencies in my body/hormones by outward signals: long cycles, heavy periods, lower back pain, etc.  Apparently my SPLEEN is out of whack.  All these things affect conception, etc.  It is extremely helpful and I ordered my own copy.  It gets great reviews too!

As woman, we can to this earth, with bodies that were capable of pro-creating.  We were made to be mothers, to bear children.  For some of us, that journey may be expensive, long, emotional and down right terrible and frustrating!  I am NOT deficient, and I am defected.  I am simply waiting for the Lord to take over, as I trust in him, for HE can work miracles when doctors and hormone treatments can not.  We've done all that we can do, and we've handed over to Him.

You're all in my prayers!

Hi there,

I have been in your shoes before. Do you have a doctor you can call? If you have bfp and are spotting that is something you should tell your doctor. If you have had several positive hpt then this is definitely a pregnancy. I have had 3 mc and only learned after the 3rd one that sometimes a progesterone supplement can help save a threatened miscarriage (my doctor diagnosed my spotting as a threatened miscarriage). If you are spotting in early pg they can order a progesterone test and prescribe a supplement if needed. Also, if you are undergoing fertility treatments, which it sounds like you are, it is good to get the bfp on record in your chart. Sometimes they make you wait until after the second or 3rd mc for certain treatments, and they will not necessarily count a pregnancy that was never verified at a doctors office.

Also, I was told that if you think you are pregnant or you may be miscarrying you should not use a tampon.

Best of luck to you. I hope this all works out for you.

I have a story like lilieth's. My friend had 3 periods while she was pregnant, and also delivered a healthy son! So until you get a negative pregnancy test, there is always hope! I would get to the dr for a beta asap. Will be praying for you!

keep possitive, and pray for what you want.  I am trying to have another baby too.  My child is now 8 years old, and I want another child.  I am about to do a laparoscopy in a few weeks, to improve my chances. I'll keep you in my prayers.  My sister had her regular period while she was pregant.  Infact she didn't know that she was pregant.  The boy is now a grown man.  Don't worry, you will have the baby.

when I had my miscarraige I thought it was a period, but I kept lightly spotting for days and days after it  would have normally stopped.  I called the doc and it ended up being tubal, I didnt even know I was prego they checked me right before my 'period' started and said my numbers were under 2 so I was about to get my period, I guess I was just too low then to detect the pregnancy..

From how she described it, she was heavily spotting, she ran to the emergency room because she thought it was a miscarraige.. thank god she has a beautiful son now.. :)

Do you know if her spotting was soaking through a tampon, or just when she was wiping?  I guess everyone's definition of "spotting" could differ.  Was her spotting consistent, or just a day here, a day there?

Thank you for your feedback!

It could be a really really early miscarraige, which to me it sounds like, but my friend just had a baby on friday after having a great deal of spotting in her first few weeks.  I think you should test with the lines again and see if they get darker, or go to the doctor and ask them to do a beta test and see how high you numbers are.  The first test was digital so we don't know how dark the line was back then to know if it got lighter or darker.  I think your best bet is to go see your doc and ask them a for a beta..  good luck. I hope it sticks and is healthy!
