What's Next

I experienced a m/c (Blighted Ovum) back in March 2006.  I just experienced another m/c 3 days after seeing my baby and the beginnings of a heart beat on a scan.  I was 6 weeks and 2 days.  My doctor said it's because the chromosomes didn't match up like they were supposed to, which is what they diagnose most first trimester miscarriages.  She said my progesterone was perfect, which is what I was concerned with and thought if I got pregnant again, I may need an extra supplement.  My husband and I have an appt with a fertility specialist on Monday.  We don't have problems getting pregnant, just staying pregnant.  I'm freaking out, because if they find something wrong, then that's it.  We will never be able to have a baby on our own.  The doctor said that 9 times out of 10 patients that she refers to a specialist have the tests done and they all come back normal and it is just a coincidence that the baby's dna just didn't match up like it's supposed to.  Are we jumping the gun with a specialist?  Or should we try one more time?  We are just confused.

StillTrying101:  I am 27 and DH is 31.

lhughes:  Thank you, it is hard not to stress and I know stressing doesn't help things in the long run.  We just have to be strong and take life one step at a time.

" We will never be able to have a baby on our own. "

We were told that by the docs and have Lauren to prove that sometimes docs are wrong.

You are good to start with a fertility specialist.  Even if there is "nothing" wrong, sometimes they can just assist you in helping make things more right.

Good luck to you, I know you'll do fine.  Just try to relax, I know that's hard after a miscarriage.

I'm sorry you are going thru all of this. Many women on here in the same situation, myself included. I do have one beautiful child tho, in the middle of a few M/C, always told the same thing. My personal opnion is that the doc is proabably right. It's prob just a freak thing that the DNA didn't line up. How old are you and DH? I ask because if you are older, then I would definitly go see the spec. The one thing you can't ever do is turn back the clock.
