Either forum is alright to post on. I don't know about green tea and trying to conceive, but I do know that green tea can deplete the folic acid in the prenatal vitamins, which is vital in preventing neural tube defects, such as spina bifida, especially in the first trimester.
Hey, MissMom2! You can post here :-) I've been drinking green tea with honey while ttc, but I usually drink it until O and then stop, because it can inhibit your body's absorption of folic acid. I might just be a bit too cautious though...LOL! After O, if I want something warm, I usually go for a hot chocolate! Yum!!!
Thank-You Heather5 & wannabenana, I'm no big chocolate fan but if hot chocolate is better then the tea then I'll learn to like the hot chocolate. I tell ya, I never new there
were sooo many do's and don'ts with conceiving. How interesting this all is becoming.
And another question, is there some excercises a person should try to avoid while trying to conceive? After my m/c I have gained weight and want to try to get ride of what I have gained but don't want to do anything that could hurt my chances of getting pregnant.
I love green tea, but haven't been drinking it since ttc. It has lots of caffeine in it which isn't good for fertility or pregnancy.
I found this article might answer to our curiousity about Green Tea.
In the past, women having difficulty conceiving might have been advised to limit their caffeine intake. But recent studies suggesting that stimulating drinks, and specifically green tea, might boost fertility. In a study conducted at Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program of Northern California in Oakland, researchers found that women who drank more than one half cup of caffeinated green tea every day doubled their odds of conceiving. No significant association was found for other caffeinated beverages; therefore researchers concluded that a chemical component of tea other than caffeine might have been responsible for the increase in fertility.
Hope this help.
Thanks for looking this up...So I guess I can have my cup of Green Tea
before bed. Tonight I had hot honey water and that wasn't so bad.
Thanks a bunch
