12DPO and still - HPT

I know it's still too early to really test but the nurse told me last week that if I don't get a period by tomorrow to go in and they do a pregnancy test (via b/w).  That will only be 13DPO.  I was wondering if that's still too early to get a positive result?  I thought they usually wait until at least 14DPO to be sure.

LOL@uterus half empty, you are too funny!

and LOL@your RE telling you how old you are. holy geez. thank you Captain Obvious!

i did an HPT 11dpo that was very negative. tested again 9 days later when my period still hadn't arrived, and got a BFP.

I can't believe how insensitive your doctor is.  I guess that's why they aren't therapists, huh?  What a jerk!

Doctors sure are NOT optimistic, are they.  They definitely see the uterus "half empty" and not "half full".  I hear of lots of women who think that there is no possible way they could be pregnant because of cramping, only for them to get their BFP.  It aint over till AF shows.

During our first encounter, my RE patted me on the knee and said in a soft, conspirational voice, "Well, Gigi, you arent getting any younger.... at 36 you really need to take this seriously."  I'm sorry but I could have punched the guy.  I KNOW HOW OLD I AM THANKYOU!  I KNOW THIS IS SERIOUS!  WOULD I BE AT A REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGIST IF I WAS NOT SERIOUS ABOUT THIS??!!  Why couldnt he have been supportive instead of making me feel like dirt - OLD dirt at that??!

Thanks.  I'm still thinking positively but every time my cramps start up I lose a little bit of hope.  I've never cramped this much or this long, though, with a period before.  And I haven't been spotting, which I normally do.  Unfortunately the doctor said it may be because my hormones are right this cycle where as they were out of whack every other cycle.  That doesn't give me much hope at all!

Fifty bucks!!  Wow, I think I'd wait on that too.

I'm still gonna think positive for you!

I just called the doctor and she said because of the cramping I may start my period.  :-(  But it's still all up in the air.  She said if I don't start Thursday I can come in but definitely go in if I don't start by Friday.  It's just going to be b/w to see if I'm pg, no tests for hormones or anything.  I just don't want to pay a $50 co-pay for it to say I'm not pg so I'm going to wait a couple of days to go in.

I think that they do a blood test earlier because the blood tests are more sensitive than urine tests and will pick up smaller amounts of HcG.

Nickie85 brings up a good point.  Maybe they check for something else as well.

Some people on the forum have not had a positive HPT until well past 14dpo, and it appears that some people dont ever get a positive HPT. ( LOL - Just watch "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant" and you will see what I mean!)  But seriously, some people do not test positive.

Hang in there!  Are you going to go for b/w tomorrow?

Not always they might want to see how your hormones are too.
