First IUI

Hello everyone.

For some of you that done know me I had a m/c on 2.7.08 and have been trying ever since. Well my doctor put me on clomid in december on cd 5-9 went to and u/s they found 3 follicles was told to go home and BD call in January when I missed my period. So I did and January 1st came around missed my period. Took HPT got a faint positive. Took another the next morning still got faint positive. Called doctor got blood work was called back told I was pregnant. Made an appt to see my doctor, when in on January 5th took more blood work all that fun stuff at the first visit. Doctor called back on Tuesday said my level was low to come back on Friday for more blood work. So I started to spot Wednesday night. Woke up Thursday morning was bleeding heavly, was thinking I was having another miscarriage. Called doctor she didnt call back until almost 11am when I was on my way to the ER. Was told I was NEVER pregnant. HCG level on 1.1.09 was 8 on 1.5.09 it was 4. Was told anything lower than 5 means your not pregnant. Got AF on 1.8.09 was p*ssed off. I decided to switch doctors. Well now I have a male doctor and I LOVE him. He told me that me wanted to on clomid for 3 months see how I do. If I didn't get pregnant he would inseminate me. So AF came today so I called his nurse told her that I didn't want to wait another three months I want to get the show on the road. So they are going to inseminate me on Feb 18th. So now I have to take clomid on CD 5-9 then on Feb 17th I got have to get an u/s to see how many follicles I produced then they are going to give me a shot to trigger ovulation and then inseminate me the next day. My question is.... has anyone ever got an IUI and it worked the first time and they had a healthy baby? Thank you for reading my post.

Hello AndreaG.   Do you plan on goingfor your 4th IUI?   if yes, lots of baby dust to you!   re: your friend who got the 1st IUI and have twins, would it be at all possible to provide her doctor's name? if he's not in NYC, perhaps he can recommend a good fertility specialist for me?   I have a doctor in NYC, but I'm not sure if he's doing it correctly.  also whenI asked for back to back; 2IUI's, he's so against it and said it's not necessary b/c I'm not using frozen sperm.  the thing is, washed sperm only lives ~12 hours, and they did the IUI in about 14hours after my ovidril shot at 10pm.usually we ovulate or trigger about 24-36hours after the ovidrel shot, so not sure why I can't do a 2nd IUI the next day.  as a result, I think I may need another fertility specialist that'smore flexible/open minded w/ my needs.

thank you so so much,
Helen

Hi Wendy, if you don't mind me asking, can you refer your doctor to me, or can you please ask your doctor for a couple of fertility specialists in NYC?  I live in NYC - Manhattan and hope to find a good fertility specialist.

I had 1 IUI and it didn't work:(   I just and my 2nd IUI.  the strange this is that on the 1st IUI, I felt like a straw was blowing air in me.  on the 2nd IUI, I didn't feel a thing!  both IUI's - I felt the clamp going in me, opening me up for the IUI.

Can you all please describe how your IUI felt?  did u feel anything when the doctor was inseminating you?  I thought I was supposed to feel something, feel the sperm being in me, but nothing.  I pray my 2nd IUI worked!  it's so frustration, emotional.

thank you all for listening.

Thank you :)
I'm sorry to hear that all five of your IUI's didn't work.
I'm just praying it works the first time for me.
I just want a child so badly, and it's been very hard for me.
Best of luck to you!

Sorry about that awful rollercoaster you had to be on early on in the new year.  Glad you switched REs and they are on the right path with you.  I personally have had 5 iuis (3 in 2003, oct 08 and dec 08) all were unsuccessful.  I have heard of ppl trying iui and it working on the first go 'round.  Sending lots of hope your way and praying for you so this month is your month.  Lots of SSBD to you!!!

xo,
marline

Thank you :)
it's been really hard but I'm doing a lot better accepting it.
I'm sorry to hear about not having good luck with IUI's
I hope I get as lucky as your friend, even if it's twins I can deal with that.
Best of luck to you! and thank you for commenting my question.

I am sorry about your miscarriage.  I did 3 cycles of IUI (none worked) but my friend just had twins last week on her first IUI try so it does happen.  Good Luck!
