Started Follistim

Hello,

I start Follistim injections last night (1/25) at 75IU on CD3. I had an ultrasound yesterday. My dr said I have 15 follicles on each ovary. Is that a lot? I don't remember the sizes of them. She said she was hoping to see 5 but with me being 23 yrs old she didn't think it was a problem so she put me on a low dose. I go back in for another ultrasound on Thursday (1/28). What is the risk of multiples with that many follicles? Does anyone know when we would go in for the IUI?

If you just now started the meds, the number of follicles your RE counted was probably the number of antral, or resting, follicles. And if so, it doesn't mean they will all develop. You'll probably have another ultrasound a little later in your cycle that will tell you how many growing or mature follicles you have. Best of luck to you!

Hi. I was on Bravelle for 12 days. Did the trigger shot on day 13 and had my IUI on day 15. Going for my beta in 2 days. I had a total of 31 follicles, 2 of which were mature at time of trigger shot. However, my estrogen level jumped to 7,000 which caused me to suffer OHSS. I can tell you that is not pleasant at all. They kept upping my medicine because my follicles weren't growing as much as they would like, but then in the middle of my treatment they all shot up at once. Everyone is different, but my doctor def has a better idea of where to start with me next time, if this cycle didn't take.
