first RE appt was an excellent expierience

well had my first appt with RE today and I was floored... so much different then my regular OB/GYN and they seem to be much more aggresive with the meds. I am going to start gonal F 300 along with lupron, I am really not sure what the Lupron is? does anyone know.. anyway, he also mentioned if no pregnancy this time around, he wants to do a laproscopy to see if I have adhesions or endometriosis. I have never had really painful periods so I dont think I have endo. My HSG was perfectly normal. any insight.. thanks to all who reply

I am glad your appointment went well today! It is amazing how different a RE's office is compared to an OB/GYN.

I lifted this off of my clinic's website:

"Human menopausal gonadotrophin or hMG (Pergonal, Metrodin, Repronex): Injectable medication used to stimulate ovarian follicular development.  These medication are used in women who do not ovulate or for whom multiple egg production is needed for fertility procedures.

Leuprolide (Lupron, Eligard): Improves ovarian response to HMG, used in conjunction with IVF."

Are you doing an IVF cycle? Good luck...hopefully you'll get pg this cycle!

no IVFyet.. my insurance only covers IUI. sooo I want to try a few more cycles of IUI.. if no luck then on to IVF and big dollars... will all be worth in the end.. the only problem right now with starting IVF is my husband is a school teacher. and does not get paid thruout the summer.. my RE offers like 5000 down payment then 125 a month. we have money saved for summer for bills, and I dont want to use that money, if anything happens and I cannot work then we would be stuck... soooo we will wait until september for IVF if I even need it at that point.

I have all those meds in my frig right now. I am waiting to start them next month. I get 9 cycles of injectables and 6 cycles of IUI. So for the first 3 cycles I am just doing the injectables without IUI and the last 6 is with inject. and IUI. I could only pay for all this stuff through ins. I'm not sure if I could afford IVF. I hear it is like 12,000 and with it not being guarenteed I'm not sure I want to dish out all that out of the pocket money and I don't have that kind of $$ anyway.

yes IVF is super expensive.. I will try it when all else fails.. like I said in an earlier post, I have the money now, but I cannot use all of my savings, I do have  a nine year old, and I need to keep a stable head on my shoulders regardless how much I want another baby.. It will happen for me,, I am positive.. good luck to you
