Has anyone succeeded with ICSI and poor sperm quality?

I had a failed donor cycle beginning of this year and my RE said that the failure was due to my DH's poor sperm quality. He is 46.5 yrs old and his sperm quality deteriorated dramatically in the last 3 years.
We are having a second donor cycle (new donor since there were no embies left from the first) and the transfer is going to be on Monday.
Me RE told me that his last sperm analysis showed not so good sperm but we are going forward.
I would really appreciate any success stories with similar terms since I really feel down and wanting to cry more than anything. And I need all my positive thinking to go through the 2ww which hopefully will be starting on Monday.
Good luck to all of us
M xxx

Thank you so much.
Knowing that there is even the slightest chance even with poor quality sperm gives me a lot of hope.
I try to stay relaxed. How many days did you follow strict bed rest?
Thanks again and congratulations for your son.

I produce a lot of eggs (20 eggs), only 12 fertilized and only 1 with 8 cells, the rest are 4-6 cells at day 3 due to sperm issue, ofcourse none for freeze.
I transfer 8 embryos each cycle due to my age and the embryos quality (only 1 with 8 cells).  I have 5 IVFs, 1 etopic, 1 result to miscary(maybe etopic as well because we could not find the sac when HCG gone up to 5000 at 6 week), my son is from the 5th cycle and I dont need to go for the 6 one even I paid it in advance.
Keep your feet warm with shock, drink a lot of soup, water even you have to make more trips to restroom.  Listen to relaxation music which make you sleep all day, that will make your body more relax....and 2ww will go faster.
Good luck

I wish you the best of luck in your cycle.
We never expected to have a sperm issue we thought the only problem was my bad eggs and as soon as we would replace those, everything would be a success.
I am currently in my 2ww, we again had sperm issues so only 3 eggs fertilised properly.
I am really praying for a bfp because if this does not work I am running out of options.
Take care

my first cycle was cancelled as i didnt respond well to meds. we thought to do it this month and i never ovulated may be due to meds from last cycle; hence we do it in july. fingers crossed. once if i respond and then we get to know more if there are any sperm issues in fertilization and implanataion. long way to go.

good luck to you.

Thank you all so much for your replies.
I live in a very small country unfortunately and the REs here do not give you many options I am afraid.

My DH diagnosis was Oligoasthenoteratozzospermia. It sounds really bad and in our first cycle we had 9 eggs that fertilised. We transferred 3 but none of the remaining 6 survived until day 5 so they could be frozen. I really hope I have better luck this cycle.
Are you doing another cycle soon?

I have an appointment today and I will ask my doctor about PICSI. How are you holding on in the 2ww? Are you going to do a hpt? I wish you the best of luck and to get a bfp soon!

I hope my hubby's sperm is not that bad (has good DNA, etc). I am going to a very popular and supposedly good clinic so I will try to show some trust (even though this is going to be the 2nd try with this doctor). Congratulations to you! Take care xxx

ICSI is FANTASTIC!  My husband has very poor sperm quality and we got over 10 fertilized embies when we did ICSI!  AMAZING!  Our FET worked and I am now 19 weeks pregnant!  Don't give up - there IS hope!  (Having a great and positive RE is really key, I think.  Maybe it's time to look for a new one?  Ours has a 95% success rate!!)

Hi  I would like to give you very good advice and dont do normal ICSI with sperm quality that is very poor. It is much better doing PICSI. Please look for information on the internet and talk to your RE. Please take my advice and talk to your doctor.

I have had 4 prior IVF and none produced perfect embies because of poor quality sperm.
This cycle my doc did PICSI and we have 10 embies without fragments that look perfect.
they transfered 4 and froze 6. I am now on my 2nd day post transfer and I feel like this time it is going to work. The truth is they look so perfect im scared all 4 will stick......

Good luck

My DH has about less than 1mil/ml and 0-3% motility (we need 60% motility--> this mean no movement and very serve sperm count).
I have ICSI IVF with my egg.  He is 55 and i'm 40, and my son is 10 month old now.
You still have hope, many people won't get pg at the first round including myself, even with donnor egg, still you don't have 100% chance, but 60%.
Hopefully, this cycle is your turn.
Wish you the best and you're in my pray.....

Mine is not a success story yet. in the midst of ICSI IVF due to severe sperm issues. RE's office has collected the sperm and mixed it up with some chemical to make it better more usable. good luck with your treatment. i really wish it works for you.
