Metformin to decrease miscarriage chance, how much?

Hi all! I'm worried because I'll hopefully ovulate soon from clomid and I'm only up to 750mg per day met. I'm taking it so I hopefully will not miscarry. I really think it's the reason for my 3 miscarriages. Do you think that's enough to help until I can bump it up? My fasting blood sugar was only 96, slightly higher and my male hormone levels are all normal. I weigh 136 pounds and am eating healthier to try and make a healthy pregnancy. Does that sound ok? I am planning on bumping up to 1000 in a week, I just get so sick. Thank you, I'm just a worry wart..

I was on the XR until I got to 12 weeks - then I stopped it with no problems.  I would start taking the prometrium a couple days after ovulation so the uterus is ready for implantation should conception occur.  And don't go off of it until after you are positive it is a negative HPT (like at 17 days past ovulation).  If the HPT is positive - stay on the prometrium!!  But I would also OK it with your doctor first.  That's great that you are on the aspirin and folic acid already.  Don't be jealous - it will happen for you too!!  I thought my time would never come but once I tried the femara it happened on the first cycle!  I have heard this from other women as well.  On femara I ovulated on day 13 but with the help of a trigger shot of HCG.  At day 13 the one follicle I had was 22mm.  I never tried clomid.  I think  you have all the bases covered now - best of luck for a successful cycle!!!!  I am excited to hear good news from you!!!

I actually am on aspirin and 4g folic acid as I am heterozygous for mthfr, I've been taking both for a few months trying to prepare. So that's good I guess! Your right, maybe if I could ovulate sooner that really might help me. I'm on on the XR, are you taking it? Do you think I should take prometrium after I ovulate or wait for a positive preg test? I'm trying to decide about that next. Congratulations! I have to say I'm jealous. I hope I get to 21 weeks some day. That's great. When did you ovulate on the femara?

I wouldn't worry about the specifics too much - at least you are on it and your blood sugar was not that high to begin with.  Plus you stop it at 12 weeks anyways.  Your m/c's could have been from ovulating so late which the clomid will help with.  And I remember you said you would start prometrium.  This will also help.  If you have any more unexplained miscarriages you can inquirre about extra folic acid and baby aspirin as well.  I took both until 12 weeks too.  Overall though I really feel the femara helped me - the egg was better quality and I ovulated sooner.  I am going on 21 weeks now and that's all I know.  You are doing you best to prevent any more miscarriages.  Now you just need the BFP!!  Good luck!  (Also are you on the metformin-XR (extrended release)???  This can help with the stomach problems...I had none.  I have heard there are more problems with the non-XR formula.)
