How long should we wait?

We've been married for 2yrs 2months 2weeks three days. For the first One year my wife used a birth control (one month injectable and some months pills). She stopped using the birth control after one year, yet she cannot get pregnant. For how long will the drugs leave her system? Or has it made her infertile?

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? The older we get, the longer it can take sometimes to get pregnant.  Unless you have some underlying issue, fertility doctors want you to try for a year without any birth control because that is generally the length of time that it takes.  How long have you been trying?

It can take as long as 18 months to get pregnant after you stop taking the pill or it could happen as fast as a couple months. It all depends on your body and how long you have been taking birth control. Make sure your wife starts taking Prenatal vitamins to prevent miscarriage and birth defects. It's good to take those for 3 moths prior to pregnancy.

You will want to start keeping track of your cycle so you know when you are ovulating. This is the best time of the month to be sexually active if you want to get pregnant and you will have the best chance of conception when you are ovulating. You can use ovulation tests or other methods like taking your temperature to figure out when you are ovulating each month.
Good luck yo you and your wife !

The BC probably didn't make her infertile, but after a year is prob not still in  her system. Usually after 6 months of trying doctors will consider infertility testing and or treatment. I waited 18 months and then when I finally went to the doctor he gave me Clomid and it worked the first month. So with my own personal experience I wish I would have went to my OB with my infertility problems sooner.
